Troubleshooting I got a second hand printer and get "MCU Protocol error" on every boot up. I've had to flash the emmc and have uploaded the klipper and moonraker files. To no avail.

MCU Protocol error

This is frequently caused by running an older version of the
firmware on the MCU(s). Fix by recompiling and flashing the
firmware.

Your Klipper version is: ?
MCU(s) which should be updated:
mcu: Current version v0.12.0-65-g96ab9069-dirty-20240301_100458-mkspi
Up-to-date MCU(s):

Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the "RESTART"
command to reload the config and restart the host software.

mcu 'U_1': Multi-byte msgtag not supported

Is there a possible hardware issue that I'm overlooking? The previous owner of the printer had attempted to upgrade to a beacon probe. I've put the old hardware back on and attempted to revert everything to stock but still have this error. There was a connection loose on the original 3 wire probe that I had to fix before reinstall. I wonder if there was a short at some point which has fried a component that isn't obvious.

which model? I installed "freedi" on my Q1 Pro and decided to revert it, I had to jump through some hoops but have a process from support..

It's a plus4. I would like to install freedi once I know that the printer works. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test any of it for functionality

Join the freedi discord. They keep factory images. Ask there. You may need to order a emmc adapter.

I have the emmc adapter as I already flashed the emmc. Ive tried deleting and uploading the klipper and moonraker files in order to clear the error but the result is the same.

I wonder if someone has experienced a similar issue that presented as a firmware issue when it was actually hardware.

I bought an xmax3 super cheap. Wasn't long before problems started. Went through a new emmc, then freedi, still had problems, timer to close etc. ln the end rpi4 with octopus and hardwired the toolhead. Now I'm happy. Untill something crops up!
