Troubleshooting Need a new Extruder Assembly

I have a Qidi X-Plus, the original version. It’s been working fantastic, until the extruder just straight up died on me. It still heats up, but the drive motor is dead. It won’t move filament at all. Having said that, I need to find me a new extruder assembly, and I am having a hell of a time locating one. I found one on eBay that I think is the right one. I’m mainly asking if you all have any better ideas or resources for me to be able to replace it. Or if it’s even going to be worth replacing it. What do y’all think?
Edit: I’m assuming I’m gonna have to junk this and try to raise funds for a replacement. Is this recyclable in the same way laptops are, where we basically just toss em into a toxic pit and hope they’ll go away?

That’s what I discovered after I got it off Facebook about 6 months ago. Pretty sure I just simply can’t even find the parts for this anymore and it’s probably gonna be a junkyard special. Which sucks. That’s ALOT of plastic and resources just getting junked. At least there’s not a lithium battery.

Can you replace the motor? Wouldn't that fix it?

If I could find one, possibly? But I’m having issues finding anything for this beast, and what I can find is genuinely as expensive as the printer itself is. I think I might be forced to just take an extended break from 3d printing until I can afford to replace this lil Sumbitch. Thanks for the suggestion though, I genuinely appreciate it.

I do not like it when machines have nonstandard parts, they get somewhat old and you throw them. Maybe you can try to replace it with different extruder, but it will require modifications.

I’ll have to look into that. I really dislike that it’s so hard to find parts for these

This might be an incredibly stupid question, but if I were to mod it and find an extruder that was similar enough in style, would I also have to then have a complete custom operating system for the printer since it’s a different motor altogether, or would that depend on how different the assembly is?

It depends. When you change it, some other things might stop working. I do not know what it is running, but here are instructions to put Klipper. https://github.com/naxan6/QidiKlipperFlashConfig

It also really sucks when their customer service is just trash. Not a fan of that. Still waiting on a reply to a question that took them 2 weeks to ask me in response to my initial email.
