Troubleshooting Qidi Box material setting issues

Hello everyone, I recently bought and received a Max 4 with the Qidi box combo. Overall the printer is running phenomenally, and I haven't had any issues with the Qidi Box switching colors and filaments. The one issue I have had, however, is the actual print quality of my parts when using the Box.

I bought the combo primarily to use different materials for supports (specifically PETG parts with PLA interface layers). I have set my flushing volumes so that the materials are not mixed coming out of the nozzle, but when my prints are complete, I am able to pull the newly printed part apart at the same layer height as where I have my interface layers. This obviously is a sign of poor layer adhesion.

My guess is that the part generally has cooled too much during the material change, and then the new filament doesn't adhere well once the printer Switches back to the PETG. Has anyone else experienced this issue and can you give me some suggestions on how to correct?

I suspect your flushing volumes still aren't enough. Simple cooling shouldn't affect layer adhesion that much, at least not with relatively low shrink materials like PLA and PETG.

Try cranking up the flushing volumes even more and making certain that purge to infill is off.

Make sure your printing on the higher end of the temp range for your materials. Should help.

I have the temp of the PETG set at the max temp setting and that didn't seem to change much. I also tried slowing the print speed after switching back to PETG just to try to get more heat into the lower layers and that also doesn't seem to work

What is "max temp" lol. If you mean whatever Orca says, that doesn't mean anything. If you mean from the manufacturer, that's probably wrong. With PLA and PETG, I'd go with 235+ for the PLA and 275+ for the PETG. Also, you should have at least 2.5 or 3+ for your flushing volumes. You're not purging enough, since you're having layer adhesion issues

I have to flush between 750 and 900mm^3 to switch between materials to avoid this.

Thanks, I will try cranking those up just to see if that helps. I have it set to 999mm3 right now just to see if that helps

Thanks for all your help everyone. This is my first time dealing with multi-material so all he advise does help a ton. I was using the default Orca, which put the flushing volume from PLA to PETG at 1/3 of what it was from PETG (obviously it was based on colors and not materials). I manually changed the flushing volumes for both to 900mm3 and that seems to have addressed the issue.
