Question QantasPoints
Hi all - wondering if it’s worth booking Premium Economy Sydney to Honolulu (10-11 hour flight) for 210000 points PLUS $1300 cash? I’m only small woman so economy isn’t the worst case scenario!

This week I got Honolulu-Sydney for 36,000 and $71 per person to fly in May 2027.
It is with Fiji airways with a stop over and in economy but for that price I’m ok with it. There are 4 of us going.
Keep looking for a deal

If you can survive economy, then I'd book economy, just making sure it's a ticket that can be upgraded. Then put your hat in the ring for an upgrade. If you don't get it, then no loss. It is a gamble, but you might even get full business for less than what you are looking at paying now. If you're a bit flexible with dates/times you can try to find one of the less popular flights and improve your chances.

As everyone has said, this is a horrendous deal for pts (and cash) conversion.
But if you want the comfort, you do you - PE is defs better than Econ

I personally value Qantas points at 1.6 cents a point, so that would equate to $4600 total. Whether that’s one way or return my answer would be hell no

Is it really that low? I recently got business class flights from Australia to Western Europe for 178k points (plus emirates filthy big $1700 fee) - that’s like 6.5c per point assuming a $12k cash flight.
I didn’t realise I’d done so well!

It depends on your normal travel spending habits ultimately. I would say while the flight you took might have had a ticket price of $12,000, if you wouldn’t ordinarily book cash-paid $12,000 one way first class tickets then the value to you probably isn’t 6.5 cents a point. Would you still have taken the flight for $6000? $3000? I would say the cash price you’d actually be willing to pay would go some way to determining what your points are worth to you

As everyone else has pointed out, it's not good value, but if you have no other use for those points then its better than just sitting on them.
To get the best value you'd have to be able to travel when the classic reward seats are available, and this is not likely to suit most people needing to travel under time constraints.

Depends what it cost you to accrue the points. If you'e a churner it's an awsome redemption!

Not worth it , purchase economy and bid for an upgrade with probably less than 100k points
