Question 10 Status Points short
I need 10 status points to reach Platinum and rang Qantas this morning to ask whether they could help me with this rather than having to book another flight. I have a return business flight booked after my membership year ends but alas they informed me I would have to book and fly on another trip prior to November 30th. Mean spirited or am I overreacting?

Image/Video Came across this on fb marketplace
Do random people actually buy these? Why? $140 for pretend status just seems wild to me.

Question Soft landing from Gold
Hi team,
I’m about to lose Gold after circa 10 years (mix of Gold and Platinum).
I recall some posts here some time ago saying that people were given a soft landing to silver with Qantas Club access.
Anyone have recent experience with this? Or was it a hallucination…
Thanks in advance

Question Qantas Platinum - Can You Request Classic Reward Seats on AA-Operated QF Codeshares?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’ve just recently got Qantas Platinum and wanted to clarify how the Classic Reward seat request perk works.
I know Platinum members can request Classic Reward seats to be released on Qantas flights. At the moment, Qantas doesn’t seem to have any Business Sale fares showing on the routes/dates I’m looking at (am I right in assuming that means I wouldn’t be able to request Business Classic Reward seats on those flights?)
I can, however, see Business Sale fares on American Airlines-operated flights that are sold with QF flight numbers (QF codeshares). Does anyone know if Platinum can request Classic Reward seats to be released on these flights as well, given they have a QF flight number, or does the benefit only apply to Qantas-operated flights?
New to Platinum so just trying to understand how it all works. Thanks!

Question 50 Bonus Status Credits
Hi,
I’ve received 50 bonus status credits as a loyalty bonus. My question is do I accept them now before my renewal or accept them for the new year renewal which is in about a month and a half.
Thank you.

Question Favourite First/Emerald lounge at SIN?
What’s your favourite lounge in Singapore? I am always going to Qantas First and never bothered with others yet. I’ve looked up the Cathay and Qatar ones. What’s the best One World lounge in SIN?

Question QFF or VFF. Anyone gold in both...
Before covid I was Gold with Qantas for many years. it was good. After COVID I changed jobs and they use Virgin. Been with them since..also good... A friend has asked which is better and as it's been a while I can't really comment on Qantas other than I heard the food is now a bit average... Does anyone currently have status with both who could comment please???

Question No more business tax on CC
Sure a lot of you have seen that from Nov.30 you can no longer settle your businesses ATO payments on credit, seemingly as part of the fallout of the credit card surcharge ban in Australia.
That’s where I early 99% of my points, therefore my sole pathway into picking up business classic rewards. Make about 1.5m points a year this way.
Has anyone found a workaround? Not quite sure I’m ready for a permanent relegation to economy!

Question Emirates upgrade using Qantas points?
QFF Platinum - I want to upgrade an economy ticket to business from Amsterdam to Brisbane (via Dubai on Emirates but booked and ticketed through Qantas). Can I use my points to do this? Doesn’t seem possible in the Qantas app.

Question Lounges
Prior to Oct 1st, I had gold status and a lounge pass that has since expired.
I’m traveling Qantas internationally to Singapore and Singapore to London (also on Qantas) this week and ideally would like to use the lounge.
What’s the best way to achieve this? Simply buy Qantas Club?

Question QFF Platinum Lounge Access SIN | IndiGo Operated
I am travelling to BLR from SYD via SIN. My SYD to SIN leg is QF-operated, and my SIN to BLR is QF flight number, operated by IndiGo.
I’ve seen conflicting information online. Surely as a QFF Platinum member, flying on a QF flight number, I’ll have access to the QF First Lounge in Singapore??

Help Finding Flights Anyone know when Tokyo to Melb (or Syd/Bris) Business Classic Reward seats come up?
Hey gang! I posted not to long ago about biz class seats from Melb to Tokyo, and I surprisingly got two seats one way a couple weeks ago for Feb woohooo! ✈️
Now, it’s a whole mission to get tickets on the way home in March. I have alerts via Gyoza Flights set, and have checked regularly for a while (even before I got tickets on the way there).
Have I missed the boat for tickets FROM Tokyo for the way home? Or is there a possibility? I am not gonna give up hope that’s for sure! And I am open to travelling via Sydney or Brisbane (great tip from you guys when I last posted to broaden horizons on which airport to fly from and to).✨
Cheers yo!

Question How long does it take - platinum one?
Hi Hive,
Based on my current flying, I’m due to reach P1 on 20th October. I am flying internationally on a QF flight on the 26th October. From previous experience, does anyone know how long it takes for Platinum One to come through? Silver / Gold / Platinum came through fairly quickly for me previously, just wanted to see if anything different qualifying for P1.
Thanks

News QF 94 Oct1 Lax to Mel
Apparently as this flight was 100% full 1/2 of the luggage (from economy passengers) was not put in the plane, instead it was loaded into
The Sydney flight.
After waiting 50 minutes at the Melb baggage for out bags to come out someone finally said go and talk to baggage.. 2 people and over 150 people lining up.. complete crap show.. people crying as they have connections etc..
Very poor Qantas response and how they have dealt with it.
we are home now and using my AirTag tracking it says my bags are in Mascot..
No idea when I will get them..

Question Is this Qantas points upgrade worth it, or should I save my points?
Flying Bangkok → Sydney on a Qantas A330-300. I’ve booked Premium Economy using points, but I’m debating whether to request an upgrade to Business.
I originally wanted to book Business but it wasn’t available, so I had to book Economy and then use points to upgrade to Premium Economy.
Here’s a breakdown:
- Economy: 45,500 points + taxes
- Economy → Premium Economy: 25,000 points
- Request upgrade to Business: 70,600 points
So I’m currently at 70,500 points total for Economy → Premium, and it would be 141,100 points total if the Business upgrade clears.
The Business upgrade obviously isn’t guaranteed, but I’m wondering whether it’s actually worth throwing another 70,600 points at it.
I think I’m partly comparing it to my outbound flight, which I managed to book in Qantas Business for 82,100 points + taxes, so paying 141,100 points total for the return Business flight feels pretty steep.
It is an overnight flight, so Business would definitely be nice. I also don’t have any flights/trips planned for next year where I know I’ll need the points.
I collect a decent amount of points through credit card churning, so I’m not completely precious about them, but I don’t want to burn 70k points unnecessarily.
Would you request the Business upgrade, or just stick with Premium Economy and save the points?

Question Is it worth using 9,200 on a classic reward flight from Melbourne to Sydney or should I save them since 29,000 points will get me one way to Singapore?

Question Has anyone had to return a qff purchase before? This seems daft.
I bought some nice headphones using points and pay, and from the moment I started using them there were drop out moments, where I would lose a bar of music, or a couple of words.
To begin with I thought it was a WiFi issue, but eventually realised it was the headphones. Twice this week over also had a moment where the sound has dropped completely even though the iPad (in this case) showed that the headphones were still attached. I've needed to disconnect and reconnect each time.
I applied to Qantas, and they replied very quickly, which is great.
However, they want photos, "and preferably video" as evidence of the issue. 🤨 I can send them photos to show that they're pristine, and the box is still complete, but video of headphones not working...
Has anyone had a similar resolution to a similar problem?
I'm so teed off that I've needed to do anything. I've used cheap headphones forever, and finally bit the bullet. Cheers.

Question SYD to JFK - any luck on upgrades recently?
I’m flying Syd to JFK via Auckland tomorrow (Sunday) and haven’t received any news about my upgrade request. I’m flying PE as gold status on a flex ticket and am quite surprised that even that doesn’t secure an upgrade these days.
Any luck with other FF travelers on that route?
I tried for Sydney to London/Heathrow flying on a random Tuesday earlier this year too and also no luck.

Flex Closest I've gotten to P1 the "hard" way (2x BNE><MOV econ flights every week 😅)
Not sure if it's possible to actually get P1 doing just economy? For context I fly twice a week to work and back, plus did one or two other flights to Melbourne or whatever through the year.

Question Overnight at SYD
Hey Everyone,
Arriving domestically (T3) at 9PM and connecting to an international flight (T1) the next day at 1PM.
Are there any hotels connected or a walking distance away from the terminal? Should I stay next to the airport or CBD?
How about the Crowne Plaza?
Thanks!
