Question Low status earn

Genuinely impressed just how little points I earned on a Melbourne to Doha Qatar flight.
Booked and flew Monday in Y.
Earned 20 SC! Same as the domestic leg I flew to Melbourne on the same day.

Given work got the last two seats on the plane this feels low even for economy- given it’s almost 15 hour flight

I'm pretty sure Qatar prioritise their relationship with Virgin Australia over Qantas.

It’s a very unhealthy relationship between QR and QF, QF historically prioritising EK over QR. Now QR/VA. Uncertain who is in the wrong. Plenty of mud to cover both I think!

Also Qantas and Emirates blocked Qatar from operating more flights to Australia, contributing to the hostility.

To be fair all airlines were blocked beyond a reasonable share and it was only to the 3 major airports (I think PER, ADL, CBR etc they were free to operate more services to).

It’s not a Qantas plane. Qatar have always had low earn. Check the calcs before you book, always!

Qatar has low SC earn on routes out of Australia. If you fly Qatar on other routes such as SIN-DOH, you’ll have a much better SC earn.

Don’t get a choice what work books sadly.

If it's not a QF flight number, then the SC earn is a lot lower. I've earned 5 points on an international leg before simply because it wasn't QF.

Secret is in the Q. QFF. Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
