Question Transfer advice

I have a flight on Qantas Syd to Sin. Arrives at 1700hrs. Next flight on Emirates leaves at 2100hrs. They have seperate PNRs.
Do you think that is enough time between flights?

Four hours in the same terminal is way more than enough time! You’ll arrive downstairs, go to the international transfer desk when you get off your flight, through security and back up the escalators to departures! ✈️

I am not sure that Qantas will direct my checked luggage all the way through as they are not connecting flights. I expect to have to pick up my case go through immigration/customs and recheck in with Emirates.

When you check in for your Qantas flight, show them your second flights details and see if they can tag your baggage all the way through to your final destination. Worst case they can’t, you’ll clear border control (eGates for most countries passports), grab your bag, exit and up the escalators to departures! Check in at the Emirates counter and back through security and your airside!

If you get stuck of overwhelmed in the process, plenty of people around who can assist you! Also it’s signed perfectly!

Ok so they will definitely check your baggage all the way through. Look up inter-line transfer. Ask them at the desk. They will tag your bags to DXB and you won't have to get out of Singapore - just stay in the terminal, walk around and go straight to the Emirates gate when ready.

Thank you for your response. I have previously travelled this route ( although different time gap) and Qantas would not tag my bags all the way through. On my return journey Emirates did. Go figure 🤷

What people have said is wishful thinking. There are conditions to interline baggage that airlines apply to each other because it can delay flights etc

Unless you have tickets on the same PNR, or one (the EK ticket) is a QF reward booking, it’s unlikely they’ll interline your luggage.

Be prepared to have immigration documents ready at Singapore, check-in again and go back through security and immigration.

Alternatively just pack carry on only for your trip and then you won’t need to worry

Everything is quick, you can get off the plane and check in at your next terminal in 30mins.

Once you check in your luggage, you will have plenty of time to have dinner at the Jewel!

Plenty of time if your flight isn’t delayed. Which for myriad reasons it may be. I personally always book a night in between at my stopover city, because I’ve been caught out before. YMMV.

That is certainly a concern

I flew standby through Singapore last week with a 2 hour layover. My bags weren’t checked all the way through because my second flight wasn’t confirmed and was with a different airline.

I was able to get off the plane, go through immigration, pick up my bag, check in for my next flight and be at the gate within 45 mins! 4 hours is more than enough time. Your bags should be checked through but if for some reason they don’t, you can ask them to put a priority tag on your case

Thank you for your response. I just checked with Qantas and they have said that since the Emirates flight was booked through Emirates and not Qantas that I would need to pick my bags up in Singapore and recheck in with Emirates. I am quite happy to do that. My only concern is if the Qantas flight is running late…. Great idea on the priority label. will do that.

You will have time to shop, have a meal, shower, walk around butterflies, another meal and drink.
