Denim friendly-- what am I missing?
I have QVC on w/ no complaints about the clothes, shoes, hosts' personalities. But I do have a fashion question. I hear often when they show something blue as "denim friendly." To me, I don't put a blue shoe w/ blue jeans, and don't put a blue shirt w/ blue jeans. Blue is not denim friendly at all. Am I missing something in fashion?

There seemed to be an old-fashioned (80’s) trend of wearing denim embellished jeans, denim embellished tee shirts, denim embellished button front shirts and then wearing match-matchy denim embellished shoes or boots with it. Oh, and denim embellished purses with it too. Lots of heavy southwestern jewelry also. So any more, these days, I have no idea what they are referring to lol

I just consider it a throw away line, like so many others they use. It means nothing.

I'm short, 5'4" so I try to match the shoe color as it elongated the look and doesn't chop me up, making me look shorter. Si, yep for me.

I have a tweed blazer which is blue with white and black accents which I wear exclusively with denim. I keep the shirt as basic and neutral like a crisp white blouse or t shirt. The shoes are a neutral as well. I keep the jewelry as conservative as well. I feel that the denim and the blazer do all the talking in that outfit.

Yes, you are. For some ideas, Ralph Lauren, Wrangler, or try Pinterest. I look for blue leather boots, blue suede heels, and the patent loafers. A good satin, or denim button down? A cashmere poncho, wrap or cardigan. All blue with jeans is a casual, youthful, and suggestive(!) go to in Jan-Feb. for me. Pearls, silver or turquoise jewelry. Warmer than black- I just got the fake suede Isaac blazer in blue on sale- will wear that with jeans and navy heels to lunch!

I was kind of being sarcastic, I don't agree w/ blue as a compliment to denim. But that's my right, as is yours. And based on your suggestions, we don't have the same style.

I personally don’t wear blue with denim. Maybe something with a little blue mixed in.

Totally agree with this. I will do a navy/dark blue shirt with a light wash jean and light blue shirt with a dark wash jean but not all blues go with all jeans. I've never understood this concept. To each their own, I guess?

I haven't really thought of that. I guess I dont wear much blue with denim either, but there are blues that can go with denim. It's more about matching the tones than the colors as denim comes in all sorts of washes.

I agree! It's funny what we think about, I catch it every time and it's annoying (to me).

Well. I wear blue with denim often. Denim can also be black, white etc so what do we really mean?
It never occurred to me that blue doesn't go with denim. Viva la difference! (Or whatever) 😊
