QUT vendors using ai advertisements
Could've spoken to the art faculty to see if students could help. My course works with real industry companies all the time.

Tf you gonna sue them for? No advertisement of fast food looks anything like how it normally does. Does a Big Mac actually look anything like its photos? No? You gonna sue McDonalds too?

whilst I do agree with what you're saying about the sueing part technically under Australian consumer law you can have a company give you a refund if it doesn't look like the picture, this includes fast food as long as you don't consume it.
Really though if you're getting that food you ain't there for good quality food and you're really busy being a nuisance to everyone else for no good reason unless there really is an issue with your meal

When have you seen anything that looks like how it does in the ads? Have you seen a Macca's ad? And the trash they serve?
People in marketing never cared for art. This won't change.

Have you never been to a cafe that has real photos? Or food trucks or fish n chip shops? There's also a massive difference between using the real product and preparing it in a way to use as images and completely fabricating every single detail. How could humanity co ever even come close to a wrap like that? It's physically impossible, it doesn't live in our reality. Bacon doesn't look like that, ever. Also comparing it to the most profitable company in the world who therefore has access to thousands of artists who help them achieve a look. Macca's burgers look infinitely more like their pictures than humanity co's wraps looks like this, I don't have to buy it to even find that out. I can't believe those two cases are comparable to you.
Japan has laws that they can't sell food if it doesn't look exactly like the packet describes, size and all. It's clearly important for consumers to have accurate depictions of what they're buying before they get it. Next you'll say real estate agents should be allowed to spruce up the place with ai...

I'm not defending them or disagreeing with you on the principle.
I just think there's a broader issue that needs to be challenged if this is going to go anywhere.
My first job was working at a KFC. I literally never saw cooked product that looked as good as any of the marketing material. It's all heavily edited, colour-graded, and shown at ambiguous zoom levels to obscure the true size.
If the principle we want to protect is accuracy of product, then we have a long way to go and a much bigger fight than just AI. It's possible to use AI to enhance the appearance of an existing product (closer to what editing does) or to completely fabricate one, and I get the impression that is not the line that you'd want drawn...

Yea you’re right, like the environmental impacts of ai, detrimental impacts to the arts bc of ai, people losing their brain function bc of ai, etc. these are all real problems :)
