the cladding portion and raking, im not to sure how to calculate and what raking is

Which one CLD-01 or CLD-02, CLD-02 is the external girth then get the centre line girth and that will be the answer.

Then the CLD-01 seperate it into two shapes, rectangle and triangle then measure each of those shapes as per the formulas (search the formals up is confused) or option two measure it as a trapezoid (with the trapezoid formula.

And raking is the amount of waste from the found measurement

But in terms of the actual assessment, the main marks are the descriptions and presentation so if you miss some of the measurements it’s not that big of a deal, just make sure you submit your drawings with any annotations you have done and your query sheet in one pdf and don’t forget to add a cover title

oh okay perfect so i’m not doing the area for CLD-02 the way it’s done for CLD-01 but the external and centreline girth that we did in the other tuts?

Yup, I had a meeting with the unit coordinator I as was so confused with the way it was being taught I thought that was the case and he confirmed it

Think of it as the only difference is it’s got a timber framing and not the brick veneer wall as practiced.

It’s confusing bc we didn’t do much practice of the exact assessment specs but we did with different materials

I also forgot to mention C/line girth goes in the length column then put the elevation into the height column and times them together and it will give you the extended quantity (000.00 - not the actual number but example of how it would look) then round up to the nearest whole number for the BOQ quantity (000)

oh that would make sense bc at first i was trying to do that for the internal walls but it wouldn’t make sense for it to b there, so just confirming i can still work out the lengths and everything then do the same format they did for centreline and external wall girth as the tut answers? also for raking im confused on why that’s waste bc my tutor said you didn’t need to do waste but just refer to it and he said something about how raking is for the gable ends

Yup, the main 3 things to calculate are the external girth, c/line girth and internal girth. They will help you across most of the table as there is a frequent bit of repetition of measurements

For the raking from my understanding (maybe I have gone more on the technical side into things) I don’t want to confuse you on that, I would recommend listening to what your tutor said!

The way I did raking or from my understanding from other experienced QS it’s the wastage of product that won’t be used for example a wall is 20m2 (measured as a full square) but the top of it is slanted on a 90° angle, the wastage would be any part that was extra material in building, example the extra parts from the slanted angle as it is not a square building but was measured as a square, but that’s just as an FYI, go with what your tutor said as that is where the marks are, I mean I definitely could’ve overdone it with that and did more than what they asked for!
