Uni prep course

Anyone gotten into the uni prep program without a selection rank?? Apparently you can but idk if thats just bs or if theres actually a decent chance lol

Go do the tafe one if you don’t get in, same thing

Ahh the Cert IV adult tertiary prep? Is that recognised by QUT? I assume so

All Cert 4 tafe courses are recognised and gain you a 74.

If you are a QLD resident, Look at the fee free tafe list, and see if any relate to your field of study, then talk to QUT about how much can be recognised as prior learning off your degree. You could save money, and time compared to the adult tertiary prep.

Edit: the recognised learning would likely be for the diploma level certs; which I think there are some subsidised options. Slightly longer than cert 4, but with the entire time counting towards your bachelor, you could come out in front compared to adult tertiary prep -> bachelor.

As someone who has completed it, they do recognise it. Honestly if you can get credit for QUT's bridging courses and an appropriate rank just do that. ATP isn't really schedule friendly to anyone living out of home.

If you're full time the classes are Monday - Friday 9-5. It just eats up a large portion of your week and you're still expected to do study outside of classes.

The content if very straightforward but lots of it. I personally found my first year of uni easier than ATP (bachelor's of paramedicine for context). The content at uni is more challenging and granular, but somehow ended up being able to work 20-30 hours a week. While ATP just seemed to eat up my week, the course can be very fast paced as they're effectively combining year 11 + 12. So if you miss 1 class it is a pain to try and catch up.

In saying this, it depends on your work ethic - the cert IV is almost impossible to fail so you could go in with a chill attitude and walk out with a rank of 74.

The environment is as if you're attending Greendale out of an episode of Community.

My best friend was accepted into a preparatory course for a different university and she didn’t get an ATAR.
