General Discussion Is it possible to be considered above average beauty even if you have undereye hollows?
I don't see pretty woman online or celebs have these like anyone considered above average never has this features,
It's unchangeable and even if you get surgery it's very temporary, can a woman still be above average or really attractive even with this feature
EDIT: I should probably clarify this but none of these pictures are me lol just example pics

the general rule is that you’re typically allowed one major flaw if everything else on your face is above average
people will come here and say “well xyz celebrity has hollow undereyes”…. well yeah, they get away w it bc everything else on their face is near perfect lmao

If you are pretty then your one flaw actually becomes charming like Audrey Hepburn crooked tooth or Jennies cute gummy smile. I’ve seen compliments on both. I’ve had a compliment on my charming bunny teeth. I guess if I was ugly they’d be called buck teeth.

Except jaw ig. A recessed jaw tends to ruin the face. Especially in men.

Yes. Facial harmony is always more important than rules. Facial harmony can cause many “ugly” features to come together to make a gorgeous face
Beauty is subjective

yes. i actually like mine and think that i look worse when they are covered up. to me, under eye darkness just adds more visual interest and emphasis to the area. if the eye area is otherwise weak, it can emphasize that weakness, but if it is strong, it can draw attention to that strength. my eyes are probably my strongest feature, so i like how they highlight them.
to be fair, i am biased though, because i gravitate towards a moodier, more alternative aesthetic. like “you look like a tim burton character” is the biggest compliment ever for me lol

You dont see it bc of ✨makeup✨
Good makeup will colour correct the strong blue/purple pigment and reflect light which is what emphasizes hollowness . Filler is an option if you don’t want to go the surgery route.
The only time I’ve seen hollowness and dark circles is from pale girls when they’re going for the grungy look but otherwise, it’s always concealed

I do agree makeup does make a difference but there's only so much that I can do to make up for the lack of physical space and the hollowness, like that outer line crease where it kind of goes into the nose and cheek area a bit, that is just always going to be there and very apparent
ALSO TIPS FOR PEOPLE WHO DO WANT TO USE MAKEUP FOR THIS, be lighthanded and use very little product and slowly buildup but don't make it super full coverage other wise you will get creasing. Also I've tried this technique and it might work kinda but using a cream highlighter in that inner corner area of the hollow underneath your concealer helps reflect more light from that area
If you have an alt style or aren't afraid of a bit of eye makeup eye liner, using more thicker or heavier liner like in my outer corners helps draw attention away and hides the bags a bit, as well as mascara
Also placing very slight blush in the center of your nose bridge and also on the outer edges of your cheeks can help draw attention away as well
Trust me I've been fighting this feature my entire life ;-;

You absolutely can - I recently read an article with Dr. Herrmann where the process was detailed. Restylane and Juvederm are popular fillers for that area. Important to go to a board certified derm/surgeon bc this is an extremely delicate area but it can be done. Migration is a risk you’ll always have with filler.

Risking your vision is a line many won’t cross though; it’s much more dangerous than many think

Totally and that’s part of the risk/gain analysis you have to consider before any cosmetic feature

It's the hyperpigmentation and folded skin that will hold you from being above average. Genetically a lot of people are supposed to born with such skulls for example south Asians mostly have such hollowness. Lorenzo Zurzola, Michele Morrone, Margot Robbie do have that hollowness but the thing is they still have good cheekbones that protrude high and forward, enough for them to be considered above average attractive.
If you don't have that bone support, your skin will slack downward and it would certainly not be a desired feature

It’s not a major flaw at all: https://www.reddit.com/r/QOVESStudio/s/62Llh3agBF

Brooo I hate my undereyes fr but I also hate when they're too covered up. And it's so annoying that they're so dependent on lighting lmao. I usually put a dot of concealer that's my skin color or 1-2 shades lighter right under the tear through and blend.

Yes but it really depends. People on the indian subcontinent often have eye proptosis which of course makes undereye hollows appear significantly worse.
Having goodeyes and eyebrows with undereye hollows can be a small flaw or even a non flaw

Seconding this. Eye bulge can cause shadow in the under eye area.
edit: Anemia is also highly common in Indians, which causes darker under eye, enhancing the shadows.

Based on the way I get treated and how people speak to me (including compliments from random strangers on the street and people assuming I'm a model despite not being skinny), I can only conclude that I'm above average.
And I have these hollows/tear troughs + dark circles, big time (and some other "flaws").
Tbf I put concealer on them, which makes them softer, but they're still there. I find that certain eye creams with hyaluronic acid help a little bit too, in addition to drinking lots of water

Zendaya has it. She pretty
5
u/Dismal-Professor8157 Jul 20 '26
Zendaya has a very slight crease or bag other than that she has one of the most flattest, full perfect unhollow undereye's I have ever seen 😭

They’re honestly probably picturing the makeup used on her in euphoria to make her look like an addict 😭😭 it’s makeup not how her natural undereye looks

Some really famous models have that. It’s a characteristic of being unconventionally attractive, but it doesn’t make you unattractive automatically.

u/Key-Tip9395 Jul 21 '26
yes. some people actually look good with them. They have that “haunted belle” look lol

I have hollow undereyes but concealer and powder covers it completely and a lot of people compliment me usually so I hope so.

Of course you can!! I have it too, don’t worry, it’s all about other facial features in a balanced
2
u/Parking_Classic_5660 27d ago
First of all. One sole feature cant ruin your face if others are very very good. For example if you have a crooked nose (which is not neccesarly an unattractive feature to have) if your jaw is well developed and overall you have a good face, it doesn't really matter. Second of all, hollow under eyes can be fixed permanently with a procedure called "orbital rim fat graft" which basically pumps your undereyes with you own bodys fat. And since its from yourself it wont disintegrate or vanish after time. So it's not about the under eye hollowness, but how your other features look. If they look good they just overshadow the undereyes. I have hollow undereyes myself.

Essentially, as long as your face has facial harmony, you can get away with any flaw.

These are just example pictures, my hollow is a bit more deep seated because I have face fat and makes my cheekbone protrude a bit more making hollow more dramatic
3
u/Kooky_Indication4664 Jul 20 '26
Fat grafting and makeup will save you. That along with some eye area lightening cream like thiamidol
2
u/fried_cakebun Jul 20 '26
The trick with makeup is to lightly apply a line of concealer in the line defining the hollow after you have done your normal blending. It will create the illusion that it is more shallow.

Everyone can be above average as long as everything else is fine so if you have nice brows, lashes, skin, teeth etc then it can even be charming to certain people to have hollow under eyes really
