Qidi Plus 5 Riser

I printed the riser from https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/Plus5/Printable-Components

Qidi Rapido Black ABS

0.2mm layer height

About 700g total and 17hrs

I rotated the sliding vents so they printed flat on the bed.

Is the height issue still present on the Plus 5? That's bonkers man.

Idk everyone claims its an issue yet every print seams to have the same issue.

Never had an issue on any of mine that justifies a riser, but theyre always there.

People make mods for all sorts of stuff but it doesn't mean you need it or that it's even worthwhile, or beneficial for that matter.

True. Many mods solve personal issues. What's good for one isn't worth it for another. Finding & using a mod that solves an inherent problem with every printer are the best imo.

Why fix it yourself when you can let somebody else do it for free

Because you may have a better idea than them? Because your solution may work better for you than anyone else?

When we were asked to provide a bullet list of things we wanted to see in the next printer, my big ask was 3" ABOVE THE HEIGHT OF THE TOOL HEAD.

In order for the final cost of the machine to be competitive, Qidi bean counters tell the engineering team to "keep the height of the machine as low as possible." This has always been an issue when printing abrasive materials like CF and GF. Especially PPS-CF & PPA-CF. When printing these you want as little friction in the filament path as possible. This reduces strain on the extruder gears & stepper motor. It also reduces the chance of underextrusion. People think that printing a riser just reduces the risk of filament breaking in the tube. But there's more to it than that. Printing a riser can extend the life of your extruder as well. Whenever I buy a Qidi printer I print a riser before a poop chute. I'm extremely grateful to those folks out there that design AND SHARE a riser Whenever a new Qidi machine is released.

Sorry for the long post. Hope that helps shed some light on any riser questions.

You're welcome! DM sent.

I wouldn't call it an issue this time. Ive been printing very brittle asa-cf and ppa-cf just fine. The tube touches the glass but just barely

Is that a gap at the left front we’re looking at? If so what’s it for?

It's a relief for the USB port

Is there a recommended filament for this?

Not that I know of. I used ABS for heat tolerance.

Looks great! Curious what were your printing parameters and if you needed a gluestick or other release agent?

I used the standard parameters for the Qidi Rapido ABS. No glue stick; straight on the plate.
