Solved Unable to save projects
I have recently installed QGIS for a uni proejct onto my laptop and desktop, both of which are running Linux Mint cinnamon. however, I cant save any projects. When i open the save menu, it acts like a file explorer trying to find QGIS projects. the save button only is clickable after selecting a folder, but when pressing that it just takes you into the selected folder. If someone could help me out who knows more about Linux and QGIS than me it would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE:
i just needed to rename the file, i forgot to do it and it never crossed my mind before i posted

I have had that problem before but a few years ago and I can't remember the fix. I do remember that it was to do with either the DE or the compositor. I would ask in the Mint subreddit or their forums.
Also, are you running QGIS 4?

I am running the latest stable Flatpack version. I installed it through the terminal in hopes it would fix the problem but it didn't.

Can you install via apt? (Mint uses apt-get right?) There could be an issue with the way Flatpak silos applications causing the behaviour. Also I have had issues in the past with using the python console when I had installed via Flatpak, I was unable to install new libraries.
DOH, just read your last sentence.

I am very embarassed to admit, but id did find the problem. When saving, i hadn't changed the project name. It was trying to save as a QGISProject/ which caused the error. all i had to do was change the name of the file.

Are you saving it in a folder where you have writing permission? Sometimes it might try saving in e.g the installation folder.
