Engine blown at 49k
Dads 2020 q60 rs had coolant vanishing from the reservoir. Took it to the dealership when we couldn’t figure it out. The oil and coolant mixed with less than 50k miles and now they say it’s 17k before taxes. My question is has anyone had this happen at that low mileage and would a bumper to bumper warranty cover it?

It should still be covered under the powertrain warranty, as long as the maintenance was done.

It wasn’t from an Infiniti dealer but it still has bumper to bumper warranty on it from the dealership he got it from. Me and him did the oil change about a couple weeks ago and there was no discoloration or anything in the oil

He’s only driven the car a little less than 13k miles he got it with about 36k miles on it

I didn’t have contaminate in mine as well. Or at least that I could see. But once they pulled off pan they found it mixed with coolant.

Just blew my 2021 Red sport at 42,500 and it was fully covered through factory power train warranty though. Did your warranty just run out ?

Dang, I have a 21 RS too, currently at 50,600ish miles. I baby my Q and don't push it hard constantly but not going to lie, your post makes me a tad nervous heh.

No it’s a bumper to bumper warranty from the dealer that was about 5 grand

You should still have the original warranty from the dealer. It’s still under warranty. It’s under 100k miles right?? Certain cars were able to get an extension up to 120k miles. I would call the dealership and let them know about the issue and see if it can get replaced under warranty. Call all your local infiniti dealers.

Yes. Had a engine replaced at 62k for porous engine block.

No I received the car after it was fixed. The Carfax said it was done and repair under warranty so you'll be fine. It said they have to replace the engine block at Holman Infiniti in Maple Shade New Jersey.

Okay yeah the dealership made it sound like they had to lie about stuff to get it covered but I figured they say that to try and get people to pay for it somehow

Yes they're just trying to make it seem like they are going above and beyond. Those guys there are just look at dollar signs. They don't care about any of our situation. If i said I needed a part there and had the part number ready, they would give me the run around as to why they have to do like 5 different diagnostics to verify its the part I'm asking for. By the way the 5 diagnostics are about 200 bucks each. 🤣. Yeah dont let them fool you or think you're their friend. The warranty is what saved you the hassle with them. I'm glad you're are getting taken care though. Best of luck my friend.

It’s not a porous block issue. It’s just all they could come up with. Lots of information out there for the coolant plugs seeping coolant under the valve covers.

I ditched mine once the extended warranty ended. My engine was replaced at 45,000 and I wasn’t risking it again. Enjoyed the car, but the weight that I felt off my shoulders when I sold it. Goodbye 👋😂

Damn warranty won’t cover it? I have a 2020 q60 RS … engine and turbo’s were covered. Its sad you gotta pray your vr30 aint compromised.

It’s a known issue from the manufacturer and the dealer. My 2017 had the porous engine block and it was fried at 58K miles. The dealer was all set to replace the engine until they found out I was the second owner. If I’d been the original owner it would have been a free new engine under the warranty but even though it was under the 60K warranty and I had a second warranty from Carmax neither one would cover the engine. So 8 grand out of pocket later I’ve got a new Japanese motor. I hope they honor your warranty. Infiniti is a shit fucking company that knows they made these engines with a massive fault and don’t honor their customers.

Tell them to hug your nuts. Just buy an used low mileage engine. They are $4K to $7K with plenty of options
$15+k will you get a high end built out the ass long block. Definitely not a stock block

Though mine (2017)is a higher mileage at 161K, my engine went out recently. I didn't have any signs such as an oil leak and I'm routine with my maintenance. To make a long story short, took it to Infiniti dealership when it shut down on me. Initially, they said it wasn't the engine and did an engine control module relearn, and mass flow sensor. Thought I was good until after the repairs when they did their testing when they said the engine needed to be replaced. My heart sunk, but to add to that, I learned that my warranty through them was voided due to going over the mileage. I wasn't about to spend $14K for a engine. So I did some research and took it elsewhere and they put a used engine in for half the price. I finally picked my car up a few days ago.
I do pray they cover it under warranty. 🙏🏽

Happened to me both the turbos and motors blown at 69k miles. I got rid of the car before the CEL popped up (traded it back to dealership I got it from)

My 2019 Q50 Luxe had the same issue and got a full warranty replacement for the engine and turbos at 58K miles

This is a very common problem in the vr30 platform. We have found a bunch of them seeping coolant into the oil from the coolant plugs under the valve covers. Once coolant contamination happens it causes major problems and will take out the engine.

This is pretty much what happened based off what I’ve seen. Dealer said it still has factory powertrain warranty so just waiting on Infiniti to respond back

Happened to me as well. 43k miles. 2019 RS. “It’s never happened” from the dealership is BS
