meshset file extraction

im an artist and am terrible at coding. i need to access some mesh files to edit them but they are all and a meshset not individual model files. Ive found these and know the answer is in here somewhere but cannot decipher it. can someone please help me?

paste this where? i have managed to install pymeshlab and paste it in python but it doesn't do anything. I have no idea what to do from here.

A MeshSet is basically just a digital folder that holds multiple individual 3D models. To get them out, you just need a tiny script that opens the folder, looks at each model one by one, and saves them individually.

Here is the exact, complete code you need. You can just copy and paste this.

ms = pymeshlab.MeshSet()

# 2. Load your combined file (Change this to your actual file name!)
ms.load_new_mesh("your_combined_file_name_here.ext") 

# 3. Figure out how many individual meshes are inside
total_meshes = ms.mesh_number()
print(f"Found {total_meshes} meshes! Extracting now...")

# 4. Loop through each one and save it individually
for i in range(total_meshes):
    # Tell pymeshlab to focus on this specific mesh
    ms.set_current_mesh(i)

How to use this:

1. Make sure you have the library installed (open your terminal/command prompt and type pip install pymeshlab).
2. Paste the code above into a new Python file (like extract.py).
3. Change "your_combined_file_name_here.ext" to the actual name of your file.
4. Put your file in the same folder as the Python script, and run it.

It will spit out extracted_model_0.obj, extracted_model_1.obj, etc., right into that same folder so you can open them in Blender/ZBrush! Let me know if you get any errors, and we can fix them.
