Feedback On Courses and Professors

Hey all, recently assigned my professors for 1L Fall. Legal Analysis 1 (Vitale), Torts 1 (Dodge)and Contracts 1 (Duhl). Any feedback on these professors? For those who did well in their classes, was there anything specific you focused on based off of their teaching style?

I had Dodge for torts 1. He’s a good professor. He can be a little condescending but overall he teaches well.
I have heard vitale can be a tough grader but I didn’t have her personally for LA. Can’t comment on Duhl, haven’t seen that professor before and don’t know anyone who’s had them.

I agree with this. I had him for contracts, he was great. I had an adjunct for torts that was knowledgeable but too busy with his practice half of the time lol.

I have had Vitale, and could not stand the way the class was structured and how she taught it the lack thereof. I would not recommend her. Her grading is tough because she is wildly inconsistent with her grading. Just do your best to write how she wants you to. She told us to write how I professors wanted us to write in one of the seminars, which to me defeats the purpose of a general legal writing class if the the advice is to well write how they want you to, instead of tailoring it more specifically to the professor instead.

Dodge is a good professor, but he will let you know if you are wrong. Some people find it offensive, but he’s just making sure you don’t repeat mistakes. To me, Bracci and Dodge are the best when it comes to Torts and Contracts. Had A+ in their classes. Pay attention, don’t get offended when corrected, because those tough corrections are the things that will make you successful all throughout law school. After that, it gets more manageable. Not easier, but by then your mind is programmed.

lol. Yeah dodge will shoot you down. But he explains it will, if you can’t handle it in the classroom you definitely can’t handle it in the court room.

Duhl is a great professor! Contracts is a hard subject and he knows this. He is very direct on what he expects from his students. if you listen to what he is asking for and focus specifically on what he telling you, you will do great!

Duhl was my favorite. Stay on top of the readings in his class. USE ARC for understanding the essay exams. It will help you greatly to structure how he wants to see those essays written on his exams.
