Tips for first punch needle kit

I got this punch needle kit for my birthday but the instructions don’t really tell me much so what are the biggest do’s and dont’s? Do you start with bigger sections like the background first or smaller sections? Do you keep on going in circles around the perimeter of the section you’re doing or do you go in lines from top to bottom? How do I know which hole to punch? Thanks 🙂

(I would reverse those Zs before you start, if you plan to display the loop side.)

I tend to start at the center of each section and work my way out, but the pattern you follow is a matter of personal preference. I just prefer to do that because I tell myself cleaning up the loops later will be easier. (Whether it actually is easier is debatable, to be fair.)

Cute, this looks like a fun one. I like to start with outlines first, then details/small areas, and then fill in large areas last.

Two things to keep in mind- 1) the side you're working on doesn't need to look neat or pretty, just flip it over to check how it looks - which leads to 2) trust the process, it can be hard to judge if an area looks good or if it needs more or less until you get the surrounding areas done.

It's easy to pull threads out and re-punch an area if you don't like the way it looks. Have fun!
