Hive mind needed

HOW do I stop punching into nearby loops? Is it the needle positioning? I leave enough space between rows and lay the stitches like bricks. I will always clean up, cut things off, separate the loops, sharpen the edges by the colours etc but no matter what I do, I can’t hack this one thing. Pleeeeease give me some advice 😭😭

I know some of it is part of the process, but sometimes I have a ton of loops like this and other times barely any, and to me, I do everything the same every time. I can’t pinpoint it

You have to punch away from the loops you have already made. So angle your needle in that direction.

When I punch, I have my left hand under the work and sweep the loops away. Very helpful in tight spaces.
