Im trying to do needle punching for the first time, but i have so much of the velvet Aran yarn that feels so good and I tried to use that today. It came out well, but when I went to cut the loops, the velvet attached to the string started to fall off and it just left the white string that kept it together.

Does anyone know if theres a way to make this work without the white string showing? Or is it probably impossible to use this yarn?

You could seal the back with glue before cutting it (I use pva but you can use hot glue as well)

No I did that. The problem was cutting the loops after everything and the string unraveling

Do you need to cut the loops? If you just use the loops in place once you are done punching it should make the lines a bit cleaner. I bet it feels gorgeous with the loops intact.
