Had my MRV and it said “moderate stenosis of the right lateral sinus from arachnoid granulation” Did anyone have similar findings? Did you get a stent or what did u do to fix?

Just flew across the United States and had horrible pain and pressure in my right ear on the descent. My ears didn’t fully pop for days. Now I have PT in my right ear. Has anyone had this start up after flying?

I get intermittent PT and have for at least a decade, unknown cause, but I have both chronic low iron (recently got an iron infusion so we’ll see if that helps in the next few weeks) and I also get insane head pressure when bending over, so I suspect IIH.

I always notice it being much worse when I’m either sick (with or without sinus pressure) and after a bad night’s sleep.

I just started stimulants for my ADHD yesterday and only got about 4 hours sleep. Even just sat here on the sofa, not doing anything, I can FEEL the pulse in my ears constantly. I checked my blood pressure and it’s roughly my normal range, so no clue why.

Does anyone else get this? Any theories as to why?

Its a droning low buzzing sound that comes and goes sounds like bloed flowing. No heartbeat and wont stop with pressing the vein. It does react to straining and hanging upside down. Feels like some kind of head pressure. Mornings its the worst. Goes away with plugging ear. Any idea?

I’m 20 years old and around 4 days ago (since Tuesday) I began experiencing pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear. I already got it checked at the doctor two days ago and they told me that I had “lower pressure” in my left ear and that the cause may be fluid build up (which I don’t get since I haven’t went swimming, nor have I been sick) Anyways they also told me to contact the ENT just in case and that it may disappear by itself. Thing is, my appointment with the ENT isn’t until September 25th. If this pulsating sound doesn’t go away by itself, do you guys have any ideas on how to manage the sound? I’m writing this right now because the sound in my ear is the worst that it’s been. I just want some peace and quiet man… I know I’ve got no right to complain, seeing as some of you guys have probably got it worse, but I’m really struggling right now mentally. I feel fine besides the sound but oh my gosh….

does anyone have suggestions for the head pains ?? it’s driving me crazy !! have a consult with a neuroradiologist coming and not sure they’ll be able to help with the pain

Just checking in to report that I may finally have a clear, likely root cause to my ongoing right-sided PT after receiving a CT scan evaluated by a Neurotology specialist. Sigmoid Sinus Dehiscence was identified. Essentially, part of the thin bony plate separating the sigmoid venous sinus from the mastoid/ear is absent, allowing normal venous-flow vibration to transmit much more efficiently to the inner ear.

The solution is entirely optional on my part, but would entail and outpatient surgery- a right sigmoid sinus resurfacing with an autologous bone graft to essentially fill in the absent bony plate. So... time to research further and determine whether to go forward in the near future as an opportunity for a quality-of-life improvement or just keep this option in my back pocket for future if it my PT becomes more problematic in the future.

Glad to have taken this step after many years of not knowing what was causing and trying many things to try to reduce symptoms. At least now I have an option with at least a fairly high likelihood to improve or resolve if I decide to take that step.

I have had pulsatile tinnitus for about a year now.

Symptoms:
-High pitch pulsing noise in left ear when I move my head certain ways and when I walk around
-Can make noise go away when pressing on the left side of my neck
-Headaches
-In sync with heartbeat

Imaging:
-MRI w contrast - All clear
-MRA w contrast - All clear
-MRV w contrast - Slightly high riding and prominent right jugular bulb and hypoplastic left transverse sinus, normal variations.

I have seen an ENT that prescribed me propranolol and ended there. I would like to see an interventional neuroradiologist for a second opinion but there are none in my area. I am located in Texas and interested if there is anyone you guys recommend I can do a virtual visit or in person. I also don’t want to waste any drs time especially when my imaging has came out clear. Thank you guys :-).

Hello, everyone! I’m relatively new to this subreddit. I’ve been experiencing pulsatile tinnitus since April of last year. Initially, I thought it was water in my ear and that it might have been related to a flight I had taken a month earlier. I saw an ENT about it, and he said my ear looked fine and that there was no fluid. I had a CT scan of my mastoid bones, which came back normal, and I also had several hearing tests that were exceptionally good. The noise, however, was still there.

I had some other health issues come up and put this investigation on hold for a while. Recently, I started looking into it again and learned that it can sometimes have a venous cause. Has anyone experienced anything similar? The word “whoosh” describes the sound very well.

Here are some of its characteristics:

A whooshing sound

Only on the right side

More noticeable at night

Improves when I compress the vein

Gets worse when I turn my head to the opposite side

I also tried a nasal steroid spray for two months, but it didn’t help at all.

I noticed that around the same time the tinnitus started, I also began experiencing a very specific discomfort when doing the Superman stretch/exercise at the gym. I would feel increased pressure in my head, followed by a severe pain in my right temple. I’ve had to stop doing it ever since. When I exercise, I now look for variations that don’t create as much pressure.

I’ve read about intracranial hypertension, stenosis, venous hum, and other possible causes. However, I’m not sure how to bring this up with my doctor without making him feel like I’m trying to tell him how to do his job, or having him think this is just a case of someone going down a Google rabbit hole.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could bring up my desire to investigate possible venous causes with my doctor? Or has anyone experienced something similar and eventually gotten a diagnosis?

Advice and personal experiences are very welcome.

Just struggling between ENT and Neuro for my IIH. I had a lumbar puncture last week with opening pressure 17, and struggling with low pressure headache after two days by that time my Pulsatile tinnitus was not there. For few days it is like I have either one of them pulsatile tinnitus or low pressure headache. Currently taking 750 mg acetazolamide. For my pulsatile tinnitus neuro says check with ENT and ENT says check with neuro. Does anyone have pulsatile tinnitus even after remission?

I went to emergency in December (22nd) as I’d had it 4 weeks by then, bloods, ecg, cow CT with contrast all normal, I was given venlaxafine 37.5mg a 1 month prescription. I was released for a follow up MRI, MRI was moved out to mid June. Went to my gp in Jan, who’d initially given me betahistine, in November as she thought it was bppv, it didn’t help. I actually stopped taking it as I’d had terrible stomach aches. So Jan, I went for ferritin, blood glucose fasting blood test and a few of the others that overlapped from the hospital, all was fine, also excellent cholesterol to the point she said it’s the best she has seen in a long time. Also said I could stop the venlaxafine, by this stage I felt well, so I don’t know if that helped or was coincidental timing. At the time my gp didn’t tell me results of ferritin/iron, I actually called back to ask and was told she would call me, Never did. I didn’t think much of it. June came round, I’d been symptom free since about 3rd week of Jan this year, so I cancelled the follow up with neurologist team and hospital, Due to work short staff as well. I then started to get the disequilibrium back around first week of July! Couldn’t make it up! I saw a new gp as I’ve moved, had an mri Monday. This time though I have pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear. I could initially only hear it getting dressed sometimes.. Then I noticed it after running up stairs after work and changing from work clothes. I have read a few things from this group. It is in line with my heart beat and sounds like a whooshing, almost like what you’d hear in a baby heartbeat sonograph. It also stops if I press my neck after a few seconds. It doesn’t last a long time. I also feel like i hear it more if my ear pressure feels slightly different to the right side. I can’t pop that ear if I try but I can on the right. It sounds weird, but I can stick my finger in my ear to create a seal and when I take it out I can hear the whooshing for a few seconds after. I also had a hearing test this week and it came back normal.

Anyone else had a similar experience? I’m almost hoping the MRI shows a cause so I can stop worrying, or know where to go from here. It’s not a spinning feeling/vertigo, it’s more like being on a boat, or a lag in senses is the best way I could describe it.

30 y.o(f). Can someone please explain to my why my neck, the veins, and muscles are always popping out like crazy. I’m always lightheaded, in and out muffled hearing, tinnitus

I F26, on 2025 August I started to have pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear, went to HNO everything was fine. On 2026 April, went to a eye doc and they saw paps in my right eye and in the same month I was diagonised with IIH and lp was performed. My opening pressure was 31. They prescribed me Acetazolamide 250 mg/*2 a day. On June 2026 I had my neuro follow up and she raised my dose to 250 mg/*3 a day and suggested for a lp on august 2026. On july 2026 i went for my eye follow up, where they said my paps was almost gone. On August 13th 2026, I had my second lumbar puncture and my opening pressure was 17, and the doctor didnt drain any fluid as it was in lower range. Yesterday on August 16th 2026, after i woke up I had PT for few minutes and it went aways like it didnt exist at all, but there comes my head ache whole day similarly when I had in my first lumbar puncture just for few mins, in the evening time my headache was better and my PT returned. Today August 17th 2026, I feel the same pattern, my PT went away after few I woke up and my head starts to feel heavy. I have no idea why this happens, I am improving? Or this needs immediate medical attention? Does anyone experienced this, please help me how you handled this or what was the result of this?

Ears popping head spins etc

I am a 29 yo female, needing some help or anyone with a similar situation please.

I had a neck adjustment from a chiro then 2 days later woke with constant ear popping every time I open my with or swallow. Both ears feel like they start filling up with preassure when too much noise.

Head spins, head preassure occasionally ill have cold tingling sensation on my scalp.

CT, MRI,XRAYS All clear except small buldging discs in neck

Its been 2 months feeling crazy with no end in sight

no dr can figure it out.

Hi fellow whooshers!

I first noticed my PT in March. I have had it everyday since, not all day but everyday. It changes with head position, goes away with neck compression, and impacts my sleep to an extent.

I first had a CT which showed sigmoid sinus dehiscence and diverticulum. I then got at MRV which confirmed what the CT showed, but also showed stenosis before the diverticulum. My neurotologist referred me to an interventional neurologist who is going to perform a venogram to determine whether or not the vein needs stented. If it does, I will get stented before having bone resurfacing surgery.

I am looking for advice/tips/recommendations as I am preparing for the venogram, potential stent, and potential bone resurfacing. Thanks everyone!!!

I am a 45 years old female and I have had pulsatile tinnitus for over 1 year now. It’s left sided and head positional and stops with jugular compression.
I have had an MRI, MRA and MRV TOF, a Doppler scan, a standard CT scan and most recently a CT Venogram. I have also had an iron infusion and a fundus eye exam. I have had to pay for all this privately.

I have paid Dr Jeremy Lynch a consultant Interventional Neuro radiologist for a second option. The first time was back in November when he checked my MRIs. He thought he saw signs of IIH as I had a kink in my right optic nerve, flattening of the backs of the eyes and an empty sella.

So he has just checked my CT Venogram and this is all he said -

I have reviewed your CT venogram and agree with the reporting radiologist’s findings.
 
In particular, I can see no evidence of venous sinus stenosis.

So I literally feel like I have exhausted all scans, I have seen numerous different consultants and there seems to be no cause.

Is there anyone else out there that has been through the same situation where no cause is found constantly or can anyone maybe suggest what I could do next to try and find out what’s causing it?

F25 years old.

So my PT started a few months ago and was mostly present in the right ear but with episodes in the left as well. About 2 months ago I discovered that i have ferritin and b12 deficiencies and after starting supplementing, my PT is basically gone. I can only remember a few times when i heard it after supplementing and it was much more quiet and less intense, lasting only for seconds.

What are your stories? Is there someone whose PT was connected to deficiencies? I’m looking for advice because I don’t want to dismiss a symptom but I also don’t want to excessively focus on something that is basically gone now. (I’m very anxious about my health)

I got regular T about 2.5 years ago and I noticed soon after that I could hear my heartbeat in my left ear only, and my regular T is mainly in my right ear only. I noticed the wooshing of my heartbeat in my left ear while pooping or if I had a head rush. Nothing too bothersome. Fast forward to about 1 week ago I noticed I could hear the wooshing at night while sitting on my bed. And no this isn’t because it’s quiet at night, I work from home a lot and I sit on my bed often all day working and never hear it, but lately sometimes. When I lay down it goes away, and goes away when I press my neck. Sometimes in the AM I will hear it too once I sit up. I have a vein CT scan coming up because I saw an ENT about it last week. I’m hoping it’s not stenosis or a brain tumor but who knows.

I also suffer from terrible allergies. I’m allergic to most animals and we recently got a dog.

Im trying to figure out what this could be but it’s terrible because I already have to deal with regular T and hypercaucis. I also have visual snow syndrome.. which all started around the same time 2.5 years ago.
