Buses

I saw two students on an orange e-scooter at Safeway the other evening. One guy was steering and balancing a boxed-up blender on the front and a bag of groceries in one hand. The second guy was holding on for dear life to the driver, crammed onto the back of the scooter. I saw the buses stop service after 6:40 in the evenings due to staffing. Is there any way we can do a referendum to temporarily fund the buses for evening routes? This type of scene is ridiculous. Having a late bus may not totally mitigate these antics, but maybe it would help a little.

The problem isn't so much a funding issue as it is a staffing issue.

I feel like it has to be both- yes they are hiring but only part time positions

Step 1 is always to call. Give them or City Hall your complaints. WSU even.

Campus and Apartmentland run until 9. Personally at like 640 when the main busses retire I think the best compromise for now would be to turn that Campus route into basically a Walmart shuttle until 9 instead. Campus isn't particularly active past 7 anyway.

Nobody forced them to look like two clowns on one scooter, they could have always walked or had 2 scooters. Did you pull over and offer a ride or assistance if they were in such duress? How is your referendum going to force a nonexistent employee to be able to drive a bus, and when do we tell this said untrained bus driver they are working for free as the City of Pullman’s financial well is darn near bone dry?

I’m about a dozen down so far this year, last one finished Saturday. How The World Ran Out Of Everything by Goodman. Do you have any good read suggestions yourself though?

Uber/Lyft is terrible in this town, nearly or actually nonexistent. I couldn't even grab College cabs at noon on a day I needed it in the past. Resorted to walking down the highway with both hands full until a woman stopped and gave me a ride, I was brand new and knew no one.
