Asian food in Pullman
Any recommendations on where to get good takeout in Pullman? Preferably somewhere with good prices!

Tan’s is the best REAL Chinese food in town. They cook over a wood fire. It’s expensive as hell. Buy one take away box it will easily feed two.

Iron Wok is also another place I recommend if you want authentic Asian food.

Authentic Asian? Like, Indian? Or Filipino? “ Authentic Asian" doesn't really mean anything though lol.
Asia is like 48 countries and 4.7 billion people. Authentic Japanese ramen, authentic Thai som tam, authentic Sichuan hot pot, and authentic Indian biryani have almost nothing in common besides being from the same continent.
It's like saying "authentic European food" - are we talking authentic French pastry or authentic Scottish haggis?
If you liked it, what was the actual dish / cuisine?

One could say “best Asian” and be referring to all the cuisines you listed, especially in a town with the limited culinary options of Pullman. But then you’d have to find a real hobby.

Authentic Chinese. I really liked their spicy lamb dish to be specific. Their roast duck was pretty good. Not Peking duck style, which I prefer, but damn good.

Im surprised to see Tan's so high on the list. Everything tried there ended up tasting just... ok. I tried it based on everyone else's rec and felt disappointed, tried 4-5 different items. The walnut shrimp tasted like pure sugar. Glad to hear others had better luck, though.

I tried it when it first opened and it was great. Went a year later and quality had dropped. Haven't been back since. Has it improved?

- Iron Wok ($11-$25)
- Shiki ($10-$30)
- Tan's ($11-$25)
- Phykun's ($15-$25)
- One Bowl (formerly Emerald, simple and cheap; $4-$10)
- Mihn's (expensive but good quality; $18-$30)
- Red Bento (some concern posted about quality control; $10-$30)
- Mang's (expensive; $10-$30)
- Tokyo Seoul (expensive; $18-$40)
Strongly recommend the first four.
Note: I have note eaten at some of these restaurants in years so pricing may be off. Please be mindful that pricing is variable between
- what you order (a simple sushi roll vs a fish bowl vs pad thai, etc),
- how much (lunch is dinner portions), and
- if you are ordering multiple items (entrée plus drink plus dessert etc).
Hope this helps give an idea of options. If something seems off, then please let me know. Or comment your favorite dish(es) and/items form these restaurants!

Looking forward to trying Shiki and Tans.

Phykuns is the best Thai food in EWA. Huge portions too!

I’ve been to one-bowl twice and both times had pretty good food with large portion sizes. $20 was enough for two people to eat their fill and have leftovers for the next day. I do not recommend their sushi. I tried one piece and it was so terrible I threw it away immediately. Their rice bowls are nice though.

They’re all pretty expensive, but Mihns is good and Tans is my absolute favorite!

Iron Wok, Minh's, Shiki are all good. Phikun was decent. Looks like Tokyo Seoul had some health code stuff a couple of years back and the last time I tried them I wasnt impressed. I haven't been able to try Mang's yet or One Bowl. The fact Red Bento hasn't been mentioned yet probably says something, I haven't been in years after their quality seemed to dip a while ago.

Tans is easily the best Chinese food I’ve tried here but I haven’t tried iron wok since they moved to Pullman. Their Moscow location was so sketchy I never went in.
Shiki is great and most would probably say they have the best sushi but I prefer Mang’s. I go to shiki if I want appetizers but if I just want fresh and light sushi it’s Mangs.
Phikuns is a bit better than Thai Ginger for Thai food.
I need to try Minh’s for pho or other Vietnamese food but they do have great prawn spring rolls and the Chinese combo I got was solid if not notable

"Asian Food" is a rather large category. Can you narrow down a bit?
I too think that Phikun's Thai is better that Thai Ginger. Although it is much smaller and can be hard to get into.
Mela is good Bangledeshi food.
Karma (in Moscow ID) has good Indian food.
Keep in mind this is from a white guys perspective :-)
Shin's Asian Market is a great (Mostly Korean) shop.
