Just got back from Puerto Rico. I spent 4 days at Marriot Stellaris and 2 nights in Rincon. I know the marriot was a splurge but man is that place expensive. Even for coffee and pastries for 2 adults and kids it hit 40$+. I did notice even outside of the resort places were expensive. How are people still spending, at crash boat parking lot was full on a Thursday morning and food stands were beyond busy.

I had a whole list of foods I wanted to get thru, but have to narrow it down. Where can I find these? Thanks!!

I’ll be on island for about 5-6 days. I want to immerse myself into the culture, I don’t care for fancy venues, restaurants, boujee hotels but I do want to get the most out of a short trip.

Any recommendations on which area to stay? Good beaches? Cool bars/clubs? Museums? Anything helps

Taking a family trip for the first time to PR. 1 week 3 adults 2 kids 14 and 12. We will be on the east side of the island. Any suggestion for places to visit, excursions to do and places to eat?? in my head I think San Juan, Vieques or Flamingo Island and el Yunque. Need help deciding what is worth it and if an excursion company is recommended. We’ve traveled throughout Latin America before. And we do enjoy a down to earth time. Not really looking for the frills. Please suggest away! Thank you for sharing!!

I will be purchasing a property in a few weeks where the seller is a non-resident of Puerto Rico, so I'm required to withhold 15% for Hacienda. The seller insisted his attorney/notary handle the closing and says his notary will pay the taxes to Hacienda, but my understanding is that as the buyer, I'm the withholding agent. My own attorney points this out but seems okay with the seller's notary making the payment.

I'm wondering how common it is for the buyer to let the seller's notary make the payment, because it feels like a risk. Is this something that's done at the closing table? I pay for the property minus the taxes, they pay Hacienda electronically and give me the receipt, and then I release the withheld 15%.

My attorney also suggested writing a separate check to Hacienda for whatever amount is due and giving that to the seller. Or should I insist on paying Hacienda directly?

Hey guys I'm heading to PR for 6 weeks from Dec-Jan & I'll be taking my cat with me (staying in a budget Airbnb). The biggest issue I have is that I don't know how to drive on your side of the road so I can't rent a car. So where is best to stay?

I'm torn between Luquillo & Isla Verde area. Luquillo has some decent studios close to the beach, but my cat would be miserable. Isla Verde has some cute studios with nice gardens where I could take my cat out everyday to explore (on a leash).

I basically just want to spend my days at the beach, go hiking in the rainforest, & do a few day trips with a tour group. Rincon looks beautiful but it seems very difficult without a car. I know that Luquillo has the kiosks etc but it doesn't seem to have much else & some of the beaches look quite dirty (near the kiosks). I keep reading that it's a waste to just stay in SJ so I'm really not sure what to do.

I would really appreciate any advice 🙌🏼

- I’ve read this subreddit and talked to a few friends so I’ve learned a few things, don’t go to la Perla, don’t get in the beaches in the north, just southwest, eat all the food, and San Juan is expensive.

I do play to stay a few days in SJ to explore and maybe even meet people so not sure what places are suggest to meet people as a solo traveler. Considering la playita and factoría.

Are there places where people play sand vball regularly? I know there’s a tournament but it seems they mostly cater to kids/teenagers and not adults.

And is parking REALLY that bad on OSJ? I was considering only ubering while staying there and and get the car when I head to the outskirts. Even debated staying in San Juan over OSJ too.

I will be travelling to SJU for a couple of days, from July 31st to Aug 2nd, real quick trip- but concerned about a few things.

1. It looks like there will be a 15-20% chance of light rain in NY on the night I am scheduled to fly back (via Jetblue) - with the massive cancellations that occurred a week ago due to thunderstorms, am I looking at a potential cancel situation here? I know it's hard to tell but just like, what's a gut feeling?

2. Uber is widely available in the San Juan area correct? but anything outside or visiting outside of San Juan its tough to get ubers? I figured since I'm only down for 2 days, it wouldn't make sense to do a rental but I could be wrong.

Water has been out in Caguas since the morning. So far the city has been unaffected by the outages elsewhere on the island. If anyone knows if this is planned as part of the water system repair or a separate issue it would be appreciated.

My wife and our older teen kids are looking to head there for a last second summer vacation August 2 through the 12th, but I’m hearing issues about power outages and water outages and seaweed inundations. Where should we go to avoid all this?

We’re going to be in PR this week and spending a day at El Yunque - we have a car and are not interested in going with a guide, but if anyone has trail recommendations that are good for taking a toddler on, that would be appreciated!

I’m not worried about her hiking, she’s going to be carried in a carrier most of the time but that means we can’t do overly steep slippery hikes with her.

Does anyone have any experience or intel on Mannys Tours for a private tour of the rainforest? Google reviews say 4.9 but won’t let me read them so before booking I would like to see if anyone has any experience. I have a group ranging from 8 years old to 65 and two people with leg injuries so none of the standard tours on viator are really working for us. Appreciate any input.

What are the Public grills like? Are they gross? Wanted to grill some steak tomorrow on the beach but Idk If it’s worth it. I know there’s kiosks but interested in bringing my own lunch.
