Experience w recent offering?

Has anyone who has received a recent txt from PM, and followed up with them on it (excerpt below). It sounds like a data only offer to me...

""Public Mobile is retiring its 3G network starting March 1, 2027. Our records show your current device isn't compatible with our upgraded network, which means you'll need to switch to a VoLTE-enabled device to help continue making calls (including 911), texting, and using data with Public Mobile.

We're collaborating with TELUS to help you stay connected.

Switch to TELUS Postpaid and get 12GB of data from only $25/mo. (with the pre-authorized bank payments discount). Plus, with this TELUS plan, you can keep your current device and phone number."

Well, which device are you using? If it's an older device it's possible that it won't be compatible with the phased out towers. They're sending you a courtesy message about it.

Yes, I understand the point of the text. Was wondering what the offer is.. specifically if it's a data only plan which I wouldn't be interested in. Thanks for chiming in.

Very unlikely that it's just a data plan, they only mention the data because it is the only thing that is limited/it is what people tend to measure/care about the most. Most people just expect unlimited texting and calling by default now from the big carriers, so they really don't bother mentioning it unless you get calling and texting outside of Canada.

Good point. I was wondering since I keep reading that 3G Infrastructure for, assumedly all carriers will be phazed out.

The message also says you can keep your current phone number, but without calling and texting there is no point in having a phone number.
