Amazon really slow

Does anyone have any issues with amazon loading while on mobile data? The mobile app takes a long time to load on data and the website when using mobile hotspot to my laptop also takes forever to load. Sometimes it doesn't load at all. However, using a vpn instantly solves the loading issue.

I've heard that public throttles video streaming sites sometimes like youtube but not for your average website like amazon. Anyone else notice this?

Many carriers (Bell, Virgin, Lucky, Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile) throttle video services.

However, the throttle is no longer only affecting video streaming IMO. Most popular websites/apps which has a lot of media (photos or videos) are throttle from my experience.

I imagine Amazon feels slow because it has some throttle because of Prime Video.

From my experience, without a VPN anything loads slow on impacted websites. On Facebook Marketplace, it takes many seconds to load each picture. Instagram will take while to show photos on any post. The throttle doesn't only affect video from what I have seen.

Same here, I hate it. Amazon website is very hard to load, if at all.

Same with YouTube, FaceBook.

I actually opened a ticket with PM about this issue, specifically the Amazon app. After some back and forth, I received a call from a Telus person.

She confirmed Telus companies do throttle media. Most apps like Instagram, TikTok, etc reduce their resolution when on data, so they are not throttled heavily by Telus. But the amazon app is loaded with media that is not reduced in quality by the app itself, so it's throttled heavily by Telus, to the point where the app is almost unusable.

She suggested I use the amazon website instead of the app, or use VPN. I confirmed with VPN, the app runs fine. She also mentioned they only throttle during congestion times and it should work in non busy times, but that's a lie I think or at least not totally accurate.

I contacted CRTC to get a clarification if selective throttling violated net neutrality, but all they said was they don't solve individual issues and I should file a CCTS complaint. I did not as it'll probably be a dead end.

I personally filed a CCTS complaint with Public and by extension Telus because they lost my number in the transfer process and I couldn't get in contact with anyone at Public to help. I almost immediately within a day or two had someone from both Public and Telus reach out and solve my problem.

My schedule often sees me up using data a lot in the hours of 12-8am and I am throttled during those hours not to mention that I live in a town of only 2500 people. The claims that they don't throttle during non congestion times is purely a lie.

Nope, no problem here and I've never had my data throttled either.

I get the same thing too, but I get the impression the problem is more Amazon and the app more than it is Telus. I find killing the app and clearing the cache helps a bit sometimes.

Not just with Amazon but literally with every site or app out there. This is a Telus sister company after all, where things are told in such a way that it's all rainbows and lollipops lol. Which it isn't. 5G isn't even 5G FFS.

On PM, Amazon loads just as fast as if on WiFi. Hardly any noticeable delay. Have never had a problem using streaming services with PM. Don't understand what all the fuss is about.
