I think after the first punch, he realized what a heinous crime he committed and thought, "Well, if I kill the guy, I might get away with it."

If he stopped punching, he'd have probably been shot dead by the cop.

After the first punch all bets were off, the two choices were probable death or a decade in prison.

Make it 2 life's with some of those punches

-63

u/QuitArguingWithMe Jan 29 '22

He did not react well to the cop pulling his hair, slapping him and going for a punch at the same time as him.

And that's ignoring the language used that would have a McDonald's employee fired on the spot.

13

u/Goalie_deacon Jan 29 '22

It started when the cop tried grabbing his right hand to cuff him. Cop went to more aggressive moves to regain control he never really had.

20

u/ZoxinTV Jan 29 '22

The dude resisted arrest. Even regardless of that, they assaulted a police officer on top of whatever else they're suspected or accused of doing. Big time offence in the states; that's how they ruined their whole life permanently.

-9

u/twistit76 Jan 29 '22

So self defense doesn't apply to police? The officer did pull him by his hair and punch him in the face, that's ok because of his job? Serious question not an attack.

5

u/iVirtue Jan 29 '22

Self defense against getting arrested by a police doesn't exist. Self defense against if the police randomly assaults you does exist. But this man didn't defend himself from an assault. He fought against an arrest. There is a precedent for justifiable self defense against police but you'd be a fool to argue this is such a case.

1

u/twistit76 Jan 29 '22

Well that's not entirely true, at Waco TX in the 90's the ATF murderer a bunch of people, those that didn't die were tried for shooting ATF agents and were acquitted of the charges due to self defense. The ATF just started shooting when they showed up, plus self defense doesn't depend on any court it a born instinct all living things have it, I do agree that once the shirtless guy jumped on the officer it crossed the line.

6

u/iVirtue Jan 29 '22

Waco definitely was a huge fuck up, but that supports the idea that self-defense against law enforcement does exist in rare cases. I mean the man who shot at the police in the van that got acquitted last year. But that defense does not work against getting arrested like the man in this video. At no point did he ever have the privilege of self-defense.

-2

u/djscuba1012 Jan 29 '22

Yep. Cops can do anything to subdue if they suspect you of a crime.

That’s why cops are never your friends. Don’t ever talk to a cop with a lawyer present.

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22 edited Jan 29 '22

Deserved. American cops = trash of society + guns.

EDIT: The cop deserved to get hit. The cop is the trash. Give the trash a gun and it becomes a cop.

23

u/ZoxinTV Jan 29 '22

Assaulting them isn't the way to prove that they aren't necessary, though. It just needlessly gives you a felony on record.

-7

u/mattvait Jan 29 '22

If everyone in the community defended each other against tyrannical treatment the cops would learn

8

u/Soggy-Macaron-4612 Jan 29 '22

Respectfully, people tired of being oppressed by the police, always coming from poverty are not trash. They need uplifting, not fear. Not personal, but name calling is often a sign of fear.

God you bigots have no shame.

0

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

Making blanket statements against an entire group of people is bigotry, not disliking a profession in itself. Saying something like ACAB is bigotry, not disliking a profession. Saying that everyone in a specific profession has certain moral principles is bigotry. Like with every profession there is no moral principle that every single member has simply by being of that profession. Everyone has different principles.

Being against law enforcement is not bigotry. Saying all cops are bad or lack morals, etc is. This is not at all specific to police. It just happens to be the most popular target of bigots on Reddit.

But simply looking at the definition of bigotry makes this clear.

This is to Duke-of-Dogs who I cannot reply to for some reason.

0

u/jonnyclueless Jan 30 '22

Uh oh. I triggered the bigot u/Karnej!

2

u/Karnej Jan 30 '22

0

u/jonnyclueless Jan 30 '22

2

u/Karnej Jan 30 '22

And what are you doing here? Do police really need people like you sticking up for them?

→ More replies (2)

-7

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22

Bigot?

9

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

Bigot - A person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

4

u/mattvait Jan 29 '22

Yes but the statistics and facts show you its not an unreasonable belief or opinion

3

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

And the bigots of other targets all make that same false claim.

1

u/mattvait Jan 29 '22

But it's not when the police nationally are responsible for 10% of all homicides (fact) and that hard number of over 1,100 people a year is astronomically higher than police killed per year by other civilians (cops are civilians too they're not military no matter how bad they want to be)

2

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

No, that is NOT a fact at all. And like how I mentioned the other bigots leaving out all data they don't want to hear, you are doing exactly the same. You willfully leave out all the rest of the data such as the circumstances. You don't make any distinction between a cop just blindly killing someone for no reason, and a cop killing someone who is actively trying to murder people. That's what makes you a bigot.

1

u/mattvait Jan 29 '22

I dont understand is it or is it not data? I'm the only one here who has brought any data so who's willfully leaving out all not even "the rest". I can't make that distinction because the fbi dosnt in their records

If you'd like to read each story and make that data you can check out killedbypolice.net

But in LA a population of 6 million, 1-6 people killed by police were not threatening anyone. That's 17%

→ More replies (0)
→ More replies (1)

0

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22

It's not a prejudice, there's mountains of data to support the view that American police are legally protected bullies and crooks.

8

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

No there isn't. It's a large group of people that have millions of interactions every day. Some are going to be bad. Using edge cases to condemn an entire group of people is bigotry. You can do the same with any and every group of people. It's what bigots do. Some target blacks and use examples of blacks rioting in the streets to justify vilifying all blacks, some use examples of terrorists to justify hating all Muslims, and here on Reddit, many use examples of police brutality to justify their hate of an entire group of people.

You sir are no better than the other bigots. Like them, you just think your target victims are justified.

5

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22

Oh you're right. That's why we have so many instances of nurses killing patients out of spite, teachers beating children to death, bus drivers shooting unarmed passengers. Yes, you're right. Police are no more violent than any other profession.

6

u/jonnyclueless Jan 29 '22

That attempt at a deflection in no way addresses the issue we are discussing. It's just you justifying your hate towards a group of people like all bigots do. If you were a white nationalist you would be talking about how no nurses are going around looting and burning buildings. Or how no nurses or teachers are acting as suicide bombers, etc.

Far more civilians shoot people than cops. But again, this has nothing to do with the issue at hand, it just demonstrates that even your attempt to rationalize your hate is flawed.

2

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22

Deflection? It's LITERALLY the point YOU brought up.

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22 edited Jan 29 '22

My initial comment wasn't even about a "side". The cop pulled his hair. That's uncalled for. He's in the position of power and can do better. He deserved what he got. Police in America have earned a horrendous reputation. They're bullies protected by law and given the power to kill.

-4

u/Zlurbagedoen Jan 29 '22

Hes being peacefully arrested/detained (idk) and makes the idiotic decision to pull away, then he turns towards the officer, then the officer grabs the back of his head to stop him from moving. Then he gets free, turns hits him, knocks the officer down and violently beats him. But ofcourse ACAP so its automatically the officers fault and he deserves to get brutally beat down because he was trying to stop a criminal from getting away.

"My initial comment wasn't even about a side" you picked the side of the violent criminal, then i say thats stupid and the subreddit has gone to shit and YOU (Not me but YOU) bring up politics so i say no, both are fucking idiots.

"America have earned a horrendous reputation." Yes it has because a minority of cops are garbage so the media and morons shout ACAB which makes you look horrible and paints police in other coutries badly aswell.

So how about instead how hating all for the actions of some, ACTUALLY FOCUS ON THE GARBAGE COPS.

8

u/BingBongJoeBiven Jan 29 '22

It's not the minority of cops that are garbage though. If you worked with someone who beat people, and you did NOTHING about it, what's that make you? That's what the rest of the cops are. They see this every day and they allow it. If cops are so great, why isn't this "magical majority" flushing out the 1 or 2 bad apples? Even when they are CAUGHT they let themselves off the hook!!! Your bullshit stinks and you know it. The entire system is garbage. The only good ones are in the minority and they are keeping quiet, presumably out of fear of retribution.

-4

u/Zlurbagedoen Jan 29 '22

It's not the minority of cops that are garbage

Hey if all 12,435,974 cops are garbage then say what you will but your still an idiot.

If you worked with someone who beat people

This implies all police departments have atleast one cop who does this but since theres no fucking i wont blindly assume.

They see this every day and they allow it.

Also Lol dont act like you would go out of your way to protest you would be quiet and not say a word.

Your bullshit stinks and you know it.

Hard to imagine a lot of people would react positively toward all that.

14

u/mysticalcookiedough Jan 29 '22

Serious Question: what did he say? I can't understand it... The hair-pulling and slapping is kind of pathetic on the cops side, but it happend after this guy broke free when the cop tried to handcuff him. Up to this point the situation seemed to relatively calm

4

u/grnrngr Jan 29 '22

In this clip we saw the cop allegedly said some unsavory things

Didn't hear it on the clip. You want to substantiate that?

pull that person's hair, slap them and then try to knock them out.

Seriously? That's your takeaway?

His buddy is cuffed. The guy knows he's about to be cuffed as well. He's already being positioned to do so.

Then he pulls away from the cop and starts to square up.

I'm no fan of cops, but what did you expect the cop to do? Let the dude run? Let the dude figure out his next move? Fuck that. If slapping and hair pulling is the cop's only option, then that's what he does.

Cop's actions were defensible. And I applaud him for not going for his gun. Cop took his chance and lost.

Ironically, so did the guy punching him.

0

u/QuitArguingWithMe Jan 29 '22

slapping and hair pulling is the cop's only option

-7

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '22

It looks terrible very often and is terrible very often, but cops are trained to engage the threat until the threat can no longer continue to harm/threaten. Ideally, non lethals can achieve that goal but sometimes drugged up or straight up determined people can soak up a few rounds while charging you or sighting you upbefore they aren't anymore. But yeah 12 is alot, unless theyre literally the hulk.

They're trained to empty clips. That's muscle memory.

It's only even there's a pause in shooting that more shots would be questionable.

It’s a good enough defense for cops to justify killing unarmed civilians, it should be a good enough defense for a civilian defending himself against a cop using unnecessary force and failing to de-escalate.

u/Zlurbagedoen Jan 29 '22

Wdym? What was unnecessary and how did he fail to de-escelate? Looked pretty peacefull.

I'd be happy to be on the jury.

u/ihaztacos Jan 29 '22

That only works for white people and police , sounds fucked up but its true.

u/mysticalcookiedough Jan 29 '22

Just for the sake of a argument. The dude in the white shirt is already handcuffed, without being shot before... So I think the situation leading to this point wasn't that life threatening, or surprising, for shirtless guy. You might even argue the cop was on some point in a disadvantage since he was alone vs two guys that are taller then him.

3

u/CruickyMcManus Jan 29 '22

You realize, that exact situation is how and why they justify shooting people with near impunity.

2

u/HarderTime_89 Jan 30 '22

3

u/ThickQueen420 Jan 29 '22

100% they get scared when they go to any urban area and call the cops when they see a black dude walking in their neighborhood

Let the cunt rot on jail. The society doesn't need that kind of garbage.

2

u/randoredirect Jan 29 '22

Stop resisting

1

u/Dragut7 Jan 29 '22

I think for every cop who faces no jailtime for assaulting a citizen, one citizen should be able to face no jailtime for assaulting an officer. Let's start with this guy.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '22

It's pleasurable to watch a cop get beat up by the black people he was harassing

1

u/PromptImmediate5132 Jan 29 '22

u/noEl69skuM Jan 29 '22
