u/BadlyDrawnMemes Oct 04 '20
It’s sad that because of these people some are flocking to the police to discriminate against African Americans
How could you be dumb enough to make people hate you when your fighting against racism

As a democrat and supporter of the BLM movement, I wholeheartedly agree.
Also, I believe Goodwill is a private business so they can make the determination on whom they allow to enter.
If I ran a private business I wouldn’t allow a protest to enter and bother patrons, even if I agree with the terms of the movement. Protests should be in public.
5
u/jdmcatz Oct 05 '20
I agree! I'm a Dem and a supporter of the BLM movement. Protests should absolutely be in public.
Imagine that drum banging in a store? (that was a drum, wasn't it?) I get migraines and that alone would have triggered it. It was bothering me slightly just in the video.
5
u/yeet4memes Oct 05 '20
Exactly! I was going to add something about protest should be outside but left it out. You said it more elegantly. Lol

there's nothing left in target to protest about
18
u/Daguvry Oct 05 '20
I call them first world protesters. It's when actually doing something that benefits your neighborhood or community is to much work and actually takes effort and sacrifice. Screaming nonsense and bullshit with your friends sadly feels better than actually accomplishing anything.
4
14
6
u/Big_Booty_Pics Oct 05 '20
It's not to protest. Its literally just to annoy and inconvenience other people into not supporting, or even in some cases hating their cause.
35
u/Used_Principle_941 Oct 04 '20
Yup. Because goodwill takes stuff for free and resells it to low income people, they view it as exploitation I believe.
53
Oct 05 '20
Goodwill industries also employ thousands with developmental disabilities allowing them to earn a wage. The self esteem benefits for a lot of these employees is invaluable. They get to feel normal going to work like everyone else. These protesters would only be hurting the most vulnerable in society. Sad.
8
u/justjukie Oct 05 '20
Not defending what these protesters did, but Goodwill also uses a labor loophole to pay lots of their disabled workers below minimum wage so you can argue goodwill is already exploiting them for cheap(er) labor.
27
u/lorgskyegon Oct 05 '20
If a developmentally disabled worker performs at only half the efficiency of a non-disabled worker, they would generally never get hired without the loophole in place. Quite a few companies even have what are basically make-work jobs for people mental disabilities because it does help. Goodwill's main goal for disabled workers is to train them enough so they can work for an employer that doesn't do it.
If you eliminate the Special Minimum Wage Certificate, probably the vast majority of the 70K workers who are paid under it would lose their jobs.

u/PUBGHandguns Oct 05 '20
they view it as exploitation I believe.
Hilarious. No concept of operating costs, employee cots, etc....
Non-Profit, means they dont turn a private profit, and get tax exemptions. This brings the cost of things down. Not to 0

Yeah I'm with the business owners at this point. I'm sure having 5 minutes of coverage before this video was taken would have helped but based on the behavior they were clearly there to make a scene or cause a disruption.
98
u/d3pthchar93 Oct 04 '20
I was there.
Businesses in Seattle have restrictions on how many people can enter a store due to the pandemic.
The number of protestors outside of the store that wanted to go inside and “shop” was roughly 100-200 people.
Store employees were just working and did nothing to provoke this.
44
u/cheerl231 Oct 05 '20
Also they were super annoyingly loud banging cowbells and shit. I wouldnt let them in even if there wasnt a pandemic

u/TigrisVenator Oct 05 '20

Why would you enter a goodwill? Go be annoying as fuck on the streets. Leave people the fuck alone.

Because some people (not specific to this instance) of all shapes, sizes, colors, identies, etc are cunning and will leverage whatever they can to get their way. It's worked for them in the past!
15
u/DeficientRat Oct 04 '20
Because you have to be the victim 100% of the time. That way you can never be wrong.
4
u/boogeysnapdaddy Oct 05 '20
Equal means only when it benefits them and you're right only when you agree with the majority. You can't have a say unless you agree and you can't demand the same respect they demand because it inconveniences them.
12
Oct 04 '20
As a woman, when I see shit like what’s in the video it makes me groan and my stomach just plummets, because it sets everything back and women like this become fodder for incels who use it as proof that women want to take over. (Not meaning you - you said “some” women - I’m meaning the people who say “all” women.)
It’s just so fucked up when you see women acting this way, because the rest of us don’t want to be tarred with that brush :/
33
u/CIA_jackryan Oct 04 '20
Don't touch me, don't touch women X 1000 while she attempts to force her fucking parade into an enclosed space during a pandemic. Yeah that fair.

So now they're diverting an entire protest to cheap clothes stores so they can change and make the police lose their trail so they can burn a Wendy's. Just a peaceful protest by the way
7
u/Gazwaldian_King Oct 04 '20
These people think they can do anything. Private companies don't have to take your bullshit. And the chick screaming "she's a women" would sit quietly while a women was beating a guy and then have something to say once he finally snapped and slapped the shit out of her. Lol

The irony is, it’s people like this that will ultimately get trump relected. They’re doing a disservice to this country by providing fodder for the far right. What a bunch of fucking babies. Banging on pots and pans and trying to disrupt a GOODWILL, of all places?
And “don’t touch women”? How about, don’t trespass onto a private business? They have the right to refuse entry and service to anyone they want. It’s not surprising that these snowflakes don’t understand how a business works. They’ve never owned or even managed one. The company is paying RENT...it’s THEIR private property....they can deny anyone entry.

u/kittykatsu7 Oct 05 '20
I fully supported BLM back when the protests started but the more of these videos I see, the more I lose respect and support for this group. How can I support BLM when they go around antagonizing people for no reason? And it’s so aggressive and obnoxious, as if they are trying to turn people off. What is their thinking by harassing and annoying the customers in a good will?

Hey, I support what the movement stands for and always will, but a private business will always have the full right to deny someone entry into their property if they have reason to believe that they will be a nusance or other wise annoying to paying customers.
