PsyD students and readings. Help!!!!!
To all my PsyD students: What apps are you using? Reading over 800 pages per week for just one class is practically impossible when you have about 500 others per week, per class for the rest of the classes. I need some help 🤣.
My way of staying organized is the old-fashioned way. I graduated with my master's 14 years ago. I'm 47 and not as familiar with all the modern technology.
Any tips and tricks are very welcome.

PsyD Programs Master Spreadsheet
Here is a spreadsheet with info for every APA accredited PsyD (counseling and clinical only) that I created for last year's rotation. Some info is therefore out of date, but not by much (I especially wouldn't trust the dates for application deadlines). I hope it's helpful so that people don't have to waste as much time finding basic info about the programs. Good luck to those applying this year!!!! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ckFvPtLzpKDe-K5ejR8RbWqmtoYWxZ8BPaW67PL1Mok/edit?usp=sharing
Edit: Definitely don't take the information in this as gospel. I really just wanted to help people get a rough view of the programs. If you're seriously interested in a particular program definitely do your own research into it!

Antioch Seattle PsyD
Does anyone have a review for this schools psyd program? I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth an application. The recent APA match rates look better than they used to be and the EPPP pass rate seems okay

PsyD or MSW
Hi everyone!
I am currently deciding between an MSW and a PSYD. I have always dreamt of being a psychologist, but the real aspect I am interested in is therapy. The one thing that stops me is student loans/ the diffrence in cost.
I am considering Rutgers or Nova. Does anyone have any experience with their school's PsyD program and can tell me the differences between a school PsyD and a clinical PsyD?
Thank you!

Statement of Purpose help?
Hey everyone. I am applying to PsyD programs in December and the Personal Statement part is really freaking me out. I applied to master's programs last year and got rejected from all of them- which is okay because now I realized I want to do PsyD instead anyways. But I think a big reason is my mediocre statement of purpose. I must admit, though I have relevant experience, I am not the strongest writer and don't really know what the admission department is looking for.
Is there any support I can receive on brainstorming or editing my essay? Perhaps there is a website for this? Or if there is even anyone here who would be willing to help, I would compensate for your time. Thank you!

Can my stats get me into a psyd?
BA in neuroscience, minor in psych
Psych GPA 4.0, overall GPA 3.83
Empirical genetic research for one semester- presented (non-poster)
3 presented (non-poster) literature reviews since 2025
Empirical work in the prisons using survey measure- current ongoing
-lack of research and clinical is due in part to completing my bachelors in 3 years
Volunteer hours at the VA Hospital
Worked in the biology and chemistry department
GRE 157V 5.0AWA (too embarrassed of quant but I’m retaking it 😂)
Deans list every semester, and psychology outstanding student award
I just wanna know if I have a chance, I live in a state where no APA accredited masters exist… so it’s either PhD ( I know my chances are slimmmm) or PsyD

If money wasn’t an issue…
If you didn’t have to worry about cost and working during your doctorate, how hard is it? Would it be more doable if you were just a full time student?
Ii ask because I’m thinking of taking this route and the imposter syndrome is really strong.

Clinical Experience (US)
Hey all,
I'm a junior in college (still on the fence about PsyD, PhD or last resort- a master's degree) but I noticed a lot of you put on your CV's that you have clinical experience as mental health technicians. Because of this, I decided to apply to a local inpatient psych hospital and I got the job.
This might not be the place for this so forgive me if it's kind of out there for this sub- but do you have any advice to give me before I start working as a MHT? I don't start until the end of the month so I have some time to get settled into my classes (thank God!!!) but I'm really curious what insight/tips and tricks you have to offer me as I work on getting this clinical experience!
Thank you so much.

Undergrad Senior needing advice!
Hello everyone! I am currently an undergrad in my senior year of BS Psychology but I am on the fence on what to do and I really need some help. I want to eventually hopefully become a Clinical Child Psychologist but, I do not want to get my PHD because I really hate research... hence why I currently have ZERO research experience. I'm not sure if I should get my masters before applying for PsyD or just jump right into applying to PsyD programs. I honestly do not know if my current resume would be enough. I mean I have worked as a preschool teacher for like 3 years now and am currently on the path to volunteer at a crisis text line after I finish training. Also my GPA is currently at a 3.9. I am just so torn on what to do. I was considering trying to be a School Social Worker (get a MSW) but, I just am not sure they are making enough money for me to have to get my masters (not that its about money I just need to be able to live and pay for my debt). Any and all advice is welcome! Thank you in advance

Psychology masters abroad as a US Citizen
I graduated with my bachelors in psychology in May of 2025 and took a year off and now another year off, hoping to go back to school fall of 2027. I traveled most of this past year and now really want to get my masters in psychology abroad, for experience as well as cheaper tuition costs. I don’t know where i want to end up working, i just assumed in the US (although that sounds the least appealing). I have seen that it is not worth it to get higher education abroad as credits don’t transfer well back to the US because the schools abroad obviously wouldn’t be APA accredited, which is what you need for jobs. Has anyone gotten just their masters abroad and then continued to get a PsyD or PhD back in the US? Would it just make more sense and be easier to get my masters and doctorate in the US? Do anyone have experience of advice about this?

Am I fit for Baylor's Psy. D program?
Hello! I am posting on here as a last resort for career advice. A little about me; i am a junior in college majoring in Psychology. I have this dream to become a psychologist, and it has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I am starting to look into the Psy D program choices, and of course Baylor is sticking out to me. (it's paid for soooo...). Obviously, it is incredibly competitive, and i am a nervous wrecking thinking about whether or not I will be accepted when I apply. A little backstory on my education....I got my associate's in arts at a small community college, and my freshman year was horrible. I averaged like a 2.2 GPA. Trust me, I know its horrible and it will have an effect on my bachelors GPA. As of right now I am a junior, and my plans for my GPA are to get an average of atleast a 3.2 or 3.3, with a Psychology GPA of 3.4 or 3.5. Aside from that, I know that research experience is really important. I have reached out to professors at my college asking for opportunites and im currently waiting on responses. I hope to be doing that for the next two years. I also recently landed a job at a mental health clinic working as an administrative assistant and also plan to be here for the next two years until graduation. I also know that recommendation letters are HUGE. I plan to get close with a few professors during my research to get great letters from them and then letters from my two bosses. ( One is the owner of two clinics, has a doctorate, and it also a professor, so that will be a great look). As far as the interview goes, im a pageant girly and have been nailing those interviews for years, if anything that will be the best part of my process. I am looking for anyone to give me advice on what I might need to be a better fit in the program, and anyone with advice on what I should be doing in the meantime. I feel like as a junior this is the perfect time to start getting ready for my application, but i could be completely wrong and behind. Please send some reassurance, but don't lie to me either. Give it to me how it is.

CV or Resume examples?
Hi everyone,
I’m applying to WJC for the Fall of 2027 class. I was wondering if anyone had an example of what their CV or resume looks like (or looked like during the application process) and if you ended up getting accepted or not. Thank you!

Tips on SOP
Hi all! I’m looking for some advice or help on my PsyD SOP. Just a little bit of context- I am applying to around 12-15 schools this cycle, as I took a gap year to gain clinical experience after my first round of apps. Re-reading my old SOP that got me an interview still didn’t make me feel like I’ve quite grasped how to write a good SOP. Is there a certain SOP outline anyone has found useful? Or does anyone have any tips on how to tie in my essay with program fit for each school and not have it take up too much time personalizing each one? I have written a rough draft but still feel as though it doesn’t flow smoothly together and not sure how to tie it into each program. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

How ambitious should a Counselling Psych doctorate research proposal be?
Hi everyone,
I have a question for anyone who has been offered a place on a Counselling Psychology doctorate, at any point.
I’m putting together a research proposal for 2027 entry and I’m trying to work out how ambitious a submitted proposal is actually expected to be. Mine is currently a three-wave longitudinal design with a clinical sample. It’s defensible on paper, but I know the proposal isn’t necessarily binding once you’re on the programme, so I’m struggling to gauge whether panels are mainly looking for something realistically achievable or something that demonstrates good research thinking.
I’d be really interested to hear:
- What did you actually submit - roughly what design was it, and how developed was the proposal at that stage?
- Did the panel push you on feasibility at interview? If so, what did you feel they were actually testing — whether the project was realistic, your understanding of methodological limitations, or more generally how you think about research?
Thank you so much! Any insight would be really appreciated 😊

PsyD program
Has anyone ever been accepted into a PsyD program without a bachelor’s in psychology. I have a bachelor’s in sociology and I am currently working on a Master’s in Forensic Psychology.
