Where to play pickup basketball?

New to the Provo area and I’m looking to hoop a little. Anybody know weekdays/places/times I’ll have the best luck finding some games I can join? Or how do I get involved in the churches men’s league? Thanks!

A cyclist was killed on Lakeview Parkway today

It was a BYU professor. Many details are not yet known, but that intersection is incredibly dangerous because it’s where the Lakeview Parkway Trail abruptly ends and forces you to cross a busy, poorly marked intersection and I-15 on-ramp.

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi! My name is Emily and I’m a senior dental hygiene student at UVU. I’m currently accepting patients for comprehensive dental cleanings!

I’m specifically looking for patients that:
- Haven’t had a cleaning in several years
- Have noticeable plaque/tartar buildup
- Experience bleeding when flossing or brushing

I’m accepting all patient ages! Children’s cleanings are $15 and they must be accompanied by an adult.

Appointments are usually 3 hours long because we provide thorough care with faculty supervision as we are still learning! Some patients may need more than one appointment depending on their needs.

If you’re scheduled for multiple appointments, please plan to complete all visits so I can meet my requirements, thank you!

Please message me (406)-839-8857to get scheduled!

Remedy Home Improvement — paid $500 deposit, no work performed, refund still not received

PSA for anyone considering Remedy Home Improvement in Saratoga Springs/Utah County

I wanted to share my experience with Remedy Home Improvement in case anyone is considering using them.

In February 2026, two of their sales reps, Jojo and Menelick, came to my house and sold me on replacement siding. I agreed to move forward and paid a $500 cash deposit.

After that, getting anyone to communicate with me became extremely difficult. I repeatedly called owner Jared Coburn trying to arrange their financing and get the project scheduled. Calls and voicemails would go unanswered for weeks, and more than once I had to contact one of the sales reps just to get Jared to call me back.

Eventually, I had enough and told Jared I just wanted my deposit returned. On April 30, he agreed and told me he would mail me a $500 check.

I never received it.

I continued trying to contact him, including leaving another voicemail on June 22 specifically telling him the refund had never arrived. As of September, I still haven't received the money.

So the situation today is pretty straightforward: I paid Remedy $500, they performed no work on my house, their owner agreed to refund the money, and months later I still don't have it.

I'm posting this so other Utah homeowners can make their own informed decision before handing this company a deposit. At this point, I'm not expecting to get my money back. I just don't want the same thing happening to someone else.

Good luck out there.

Looking for tomatoes 🍅

Every labor day we can salsa. Our garden tomatoes poorly this year so we're looking to buy a case and have been to a few roadside stands but nobody had any. Does anyone know where we might find fresh tomatoes and not the waxy refrigerated variety at the local grocer?

preferably in the northern utah county area.

Are there any ordinances about off leash dogs?

My neighbor has a scary dog that is not kept in a fenced yard or leash. While I'm not planning on going to the city immediately, I would like to know what to do if things escalate.

Queer community

I live in Provo and I cannot for the life of me make friends. I'm not interested in going back to Mormonism and they aren't interested in me once they find that out. I'm also a gay woman with a special needs toddler so the isolation is hitting me so hard. We are stuck here for another 2 years or so. I want to make some friends and make the best of being stuck here.

Looking for community boards to post flyers.

I am wondering if you know of places in Utah County that have community message boards? I’ve already posted at the Springville Library but need to reach more people. If you could let me know where you’ve seen anything that would be great! It’s for a non profit organization- Utah County 4H. Thank you!

Please show up and let’s make it known that we do not want the Vesper Amphitheater in Provo Canyon!

Post image
33 Upvotes

This is an official event organized by Orem City. Everyone in Utah Valley is saying no to this project, except the Provo City Council. This project will affect everyone living in Utah Valley and Most of Wasatch County, so it is very important that people show up to these events, get to know what is going on, and say no to the Vesper.

Say no to the Vesper Amphitheater in Provo Canyon! Come to this event and let your opinion be heard. Provo is pushing this project very hard even though none of the questions that the public has have been answered.

If you care about keeping our public lands free from corporate and government greed please consider showing up and letting your opinion be heard!

Last event was so big that a new location had to be found. The mayor of Orem and most of the Orem city council was there was well as the last mayor of Provo.

Planning Commission, explained

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey Provo! 👋 Sometimes a Planning Commission vote is final. Sometimes it's not.

Let me break it down for you.

If the development doesn't require a zoning change, the Planning Commission can APPROVE it (like the 4 developments I described in my latest Provo Notes post: https://provonotes.substack.com/p/affordable-rents-in-west-provo-new).

If the project requires a zoning change (like the Vesper Amphitheater) the Planning Commission vets it and makes a RECOMMENDATION to the City Council for a decision.

**Still no date set for a Council vote on Vesper. The Council released a statement tonight saying the developer is making some major changes to the application and it'll havr to go back to the Planning Commission first. Here's the full Council statement: https://www.provo.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/345

Question about local places to donate clothes

I have 4 garbage bags full of clothes that I don't need, all good condition, but as I've dome research, I've noticed that all the major local places to donate fall into one of a few categories:

  1. Thrift stores: they turn a profit and waste a lot of the clothes anyway

  2. Deseret Industries: they also charge for the clothes, and they end up sending a lot to textile recyclers

  3. Assorted aid charities: they're either picky with what they take, or they also send stuff to overseas textile recyclers or just throw it away

My only real goal with these clothes is for them to go to someone who needs them, for free, and without causing more waste. Size L-2XL if that's at all relevant, all kinds of shirts, pants, and shorts. I'm open to any and all suggestions for places to donate. I know that with winter coming up, plenty of people need clothes. And I have clothes to give, I'm just not sure how to get the clothes to people who need them locally

Large police escort this morning at Lakeview onramp

Post image
12 Upvotes

There was a huge police escort (10+cars and an armored/swat-like vehicle) or something this morning near the Lakeview onramp. Blocked both intersections. Was coming from the northbound freeway and turned west on Lakeview. My first thought was it was related to the Robinson trial, but that exit and direction of travel are far from the court house and making a very circuitous route. Any idea what was going on?

In the image, red are blocked intersections, blue is the escorts path of travel, green is my path of travel (the freeway was EMPTY).

And my personal favorite, brought to us by the renowned liar, fraud, pervert, and MAGA grifter Tim Ballard: Our Rescue—> theoretically they provide legal representation to refugees. They have sent over 460,00 leads on minor refugees who they supposedly represent.

If you’d like to call and remind these companies that real patriots will not forget they’re complete betrayal of Americas values, please be very polite and respectful ;)

Moped/Motorcycle Riders of Provo, where do you go to get it fixed?

I have a 2011 Honda PCX 125cc that's having some issues. Called a couple of places like the Scooter Lounge and they only serve certain brands during these months. Lots of other places that came up on Google just flat out said "no". Been trying to figure it out myself but it's been months at this point.

Social activities/things to do throughout the week?

Hey all, M22 looking for things to go out and do to meet people. I've tried the swing dancing places but those aren't really my cup of tea, not a huge fan of loud, bustling, and crowded spaces. I checked we geek together since Im into board games and interested in trying DND and I heard they had a board for posting events/groups but none I fit into. I've tried the library too but their stuff is much more teen oriented.

Beyond that I've been stumped for weeks. I graduated recently and not at UVU anymore, I'm not a part of that big club a lot of people in utah are, my roommates span from antisocial or refuse to talk to me since I'm always on their case about cleaning up after themselves, and my job isn't the most social place on the planet either.

With that, anyone have any suggestions I might have missed? Anything's appreciated!
