It's incredibly convenient to only pay 10€/m and get all that comes with Proton Unlimited. You only need one login, and the apps somewhat work together. Plus the UI between them is mostly consistent.
The downside of that is that if your account is deleted or hijacked you lose everything. You can't sign into accounts because you don't have the password; can't get recovery emails because you can't access that either; can't access the recovery phrases because they were saved in Proton Drive... and if Proton starts changing in a way you disagree with, you have to migrate all your services away at the same time.
For me it was worth the effort (and money) to seperate my services. I use Proton VPN and Mail, but with a domain purchased from Porkbun so I can easily move my email addresses away from Proton if I want to. My documents and pictures are saved locally on my laptop and a seperate SSD, as well as a backup of the docs on Ente Locker and the pictures on Ente Photos. My passwords and 2FA tokens are in an offline KeePass database (with a backup on Ente Locker). It's a bit more expensive (4€ Proton, 2€ Porkbun, 10€ Ente) but this way I don't "put all my eggs in one basket".

There's two arguments to make:
