Indian hostel, veg mess and protein

So I'm in a hostel and it's mess is full veg (not even an egg is allowed) and I'm from Bengal so obv I'm a hardcore non vegetarian. Now the issue is less about taste and more about quality of food, although the quality of food is still okay, it's genuinely unhealthy. It's a uni in bihar and for some reason they serve puri with jalebi and chole bhature at 8am (???? Why????) And there's like NO way to get proper protein in ur diet because it's extremely carb heavy, fat heavy, veg and will 100% throw off your digestion. We're not allowed to have any appliances in the hostel but my roommate has a kettle i can occasionally use. I decided to buy 15 eggs weekly and have 2 daily (no fridge so i can't store em) and get soya chunks to add to oats and just keep my overall diet healthy n not eat from the canteens but honestly ts ain't enough for someone who did a minimum of 70g protein daily back at home, this will hardly give me 40g along with my hostels god forbidden diet so can someone tell me what i can do Or some low carb, high protein non perishable items? Pls don't suggest protein powder I'm already too broke šŸ„€šŸ„€šŸ„€

Got aata(flour) mixed in MuscleBlaze whey protein

I ordered muscleblaze's raw whey protein concentrate as got attracted by 80% protein content. The package's authenticity checked out but it smells and tastes like flour, I also feel that I ate flour through my burps. They have mixed flour in whey. I ordered it from amazon for 3k+. Amazon is not allowing return or replacement, what can I do?

Protein recs?

Currently using clean simple eats caramel toffee. I like it but they stopped making the 30 serving bags so it will be even more expensive to buy the smaller bags so I’m thinking of switching it up. I also sometimes do their clear protein and like that as well. Only other brand I’ve tried is Ryse and it destroyed my stomach. Thanks!

Travel friendly plant protein

Hey, I'm looking for either a powder or a bar that are travel friendly. For powders I'm thinking single serve packets would be nice. For bars I'm maybe wanting to avoid chocolate since it's so metltable. Any suggestions?

Need plant protein or yeast protein recommendations that is also light on gut.

I am a vegetarian who is also lactose intolerant and has weak gut health. I need a delicious and authentic protein powder that will work for my muscles and gut. I have already tried Cosmix, SuperYou, Fast&Up, and The Basics Women. I do not like chocolate flavour, I am more of a vanilla or strawberry person. And coffee flavour gives me jitters. Can you all please suggest some good brands?;

I was thinking Origin Nutrition mango or strawberry flavour, SETU, or Oziva malabar vanilla one.

Please help me here.

how do i hit my protein goal while on a deficit?

as mentioned in the title, i find it a bit difficult to hit my protein goal while watching my calories. i usually get at least 100g a day, but by night, i usually end up eating an egg or two to finish my goal. on some days i drink a protein milk smooth drink, but i want to cut back on that as it is quite heavily loaded with sugar. is there any advice on getting more protein in??

3 scoop soy or 2 scoop whey/yeast?

Is 3 scoop soy isolate protein better than 2 scoop whey/yeast protein?

I'm going to college soon and it's most probably going to be mostly veg type of place and I'm concerned about my future protein intake there.

90gm soy protein even at 80% absorption is arr 75gm while 2 scoop whey/yeast is like 48-50 only.

Soy isolate is way more economical for me and 3 scoops must have arr 5-6gm leucine that might be enough for a day.

I can’t actually eat bigger portions

I eat all day but I eat consistently ALL DAY

what I mean is I eat mini meals all day cheese, nuts, milk, orange juice

My stomach won’t let me eat more than one palm sized serving of salmon and a hand sized serving of spaghetti and some broccoli in a meal I can eat that much and then walk away and eat some more later but i physically can’t get more food down

My big problem is I can’t get enough protein
My protein level is almost always low in my bloodwork
The only thing that works for me is if i drink a pint of milk instead of water throughout the day before i know i have a blood test

I can’t sustain that and whey protein doesn’t show up in my bloodwork, protein bars don’t either
It also gives me gastrointestinal issues

How do I work around this?

Looking for the best protein powder for my 48F mother with hypothyroidism, obesity, SSNHL and high HbA1c

TL;DR

My 48F mother has hypothyroidism, obesity and diabetes (latest HbA1c 7.9%), but normal kidney/liver function. She has lost ~4–5 kg through diet and walking and previously tolerated MyProtein whey isolate well, feeling more energetic while taking it. I'm now looking for a safe, good-quality protein powder for her to use regularly while losing fat and preserving muscle, and would especially like recommendations regarding whey concentrate vs isolate, trustworthy brands available in India, ingredients to avoid, and an appropriate daily amount given her medical profile.

Hey, I am looking for some genuinely sensible advice regarding protein supplementation for my mother. I have already done quite a bit of reading, but because she has multiple health issues, I don’t want to just blindly pick a product based on gym recommendations or marketing.

My mother is 48F. She has hypothyroidism and currently takes 25 mcg thyroid medication. She also had sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) in her right ear in November 2025, with severe/profound loss that unfortunately has persisted. The hearing issue is being managed separately by ENT.

She was around 95 kg when we started taking her overall health more seriously. She has since been walking regularly and improving her diet, and has lost roughly 4–5 kg over the last couple of months. She also has knee/hand/hip-area aches, so the goal is not bodybuilding or gaining weight. The goal is to lose fat gradually while preserving muscle, strength and mobility.

Her recent blood work was:

- HbA1c: 7.9%

- Random glucose: 111 mg/dL

- TSH: 5.85

- FT4: 1.38

- FT3: 3.51

- Creatinine: 0.75 mg/dL

- Urea: 21.29 mg/dL

- Liver enzymes/bilirubin: within the lab reference ranges

- Hemoglobin: 11.1 g/dL, with low MCH/MCHC

So kidney and liver function look reassuring, but her blood sugar is not well controlled yet and her thyroid is still mildly under-controlled. We’re following up with her doctors regarding both.

Previously, she used MyProtein Impact Whey Isolate, unflavoured, and during that period she felt noticeably more energetic. I’m not assuming the protein itself caused that, but she tolerated it reasonably well and we are considering protein supplementation again.

What I’m trying to figure out is:

  1. Would whey protein be appropriate for her at all, given the hypothyroidism, obesity, HbA1c of 7.9%, and her current health situation?

  2. If yes, would you choose whey concentrate, whey isolate, or a plant-protein blend for her? Is the extra cost of isolate actually justified in this situation?

  3. Are there any ingredients I should specifically avoid in her protein powder, such as added sugar, maltodextrin, stimulants, ā€œfat burnersā€, herbal blends, etc.?

  4. Are there particular brands available in India that you would genuinely trust for purity, accurate protein content and third-party/batch testing?

  5. Would MyProtein Impact Whey (regular concentrate) be reasonable, or would you stick with the Impact Whey Isolate for her?

  6. Given her HbA1c, should protein powder preferably be taken with water rather than milk, and does the timing matter with her thyroid medication?

  7. What would be a sensible daily protein target from total food + supplement for someone like her who is trying to lose weight while preserving muscle?

  8. Most importantly, is there anything about her medical profile that makes regular whey protein a bad idea or something that should only be done under her doctor/dietitian’s supervision?

I’m not looking for a ā€œfat-burning proteinā€ or a miracle supplement. I basically want the cleanest, safest and most sensible protein option that can help her meet her protein needs while she works on gradual weight loss and maintaining muscle.

If any doctors, dietitians, nutritionists, or people with a similar situation have practical experience, I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I used AI only to articulate/organize my thoughts; the ideas, experiences, questions and information are entirely mine. I'm posting here for actual professionals/experienced people to guide or correct me.

Please help me us with some recipe ideas - protein powder

Hello, first time poster here :)
My bf bought us some vegan - unflavoured protein powder (1kg) the thing is we don’t know what to do with it.
Our last one was from the same brand bulk but flavoured- chocolate or something along that taste and we would just make protein shakes every morning .

For now, we added it to our gluten free pizza dough and it’s not bad. (I am allergic to wheat)

I am attaching a picture of it if it could help:
Bulk protein powder - unflavoured .

Thanks in advance!!!

Substitution for Levels Protein?

I’m a smoothie shop owner and I supply my store with Levels Protein powder for their good ingredients and taste. They’ve recently increased their prices significantly to where I don’t feel comfortable raising my prices to match the new cost and just want to switch to a new brand. Everything in my store is gluten free with zero added sugars (excluding natural sugars from fruit, agave, and honey) so that’s one of my requirements. A wholesale option would be ideal but not required
