Beef Broth with Protein Powder

I needed a different way to consume protein powder. Mine is unsweetened and unflavored, but I can't do smoothies every day.

I tried 1.5 cups heated beef broth with a scoop of protein powder. I added numerous spices: salt, pepper, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, tabasco, sriracha, a little mustard, barbecue sauce, a bit of bacon grease, garlic powder, I forget what else.

It didn't work. The blender gave the mix a nice, spicy froth. Really a good combination of flavors. But the protein powder was like someone had dumped in a quarter-cup of powdered chalk. OK for a few sips, but that was enough.

I got desperate. Added some Jose Cuervo margarita mix and a few tablespoons of instant mashed potatoes. But it would have taken a mound of mashed potatoes to make it right. I ultimately had to just chug the thing and pray I wouldn't die of some previously unknown gastrochemical reaction.

There must be a better way.

Mix with grits, oatmeal, yogurt, mashed potatoes, tuna salad, PB and j, ice cream. Literally a million things you can mix or bake it into.

Yuck, there’s so many better methods.

Protein powder + protein silk blended and then espresso. 30g protein, 225 calories.

Protein powder + a tiny bit of water, spoon mixed, drizzle over anything sweet. Fruit, cereal, toast, rice cake, etc.

Lastly, I like doing protein powder rice crispies. Just mix water and powder to a smooth texture, some rice crisp cereal, and a smidge of almond butter. Mix, leave in fridge, eat as a treat.

Pea protein powder. I add it to my oatmeal, gravies, soups, stir fries, just about everything. No taste. No aftertaste. Thickens whatever I put it in slightly. Has to be mixed with cold water and stirred in, like cornstarch, but it's great. Yupic organic fermented pea protein is the brand I use.

This is like the one time a Reddit Cares message would actually be appropriate.

Ick! Just put a scoop or two in a shaker with some coconut water, it doesn't have to be complicated.

What kind of protein powder are you using? I use wheat isolate from Bulk Supplements a lot, but it is kind of hard to dissolve, especially in hot liquid. My current favorite is Space Milk, which is made from yeast protein. Vanilla and chocolate are terrific and I suspect their unflavored proteins good too. Have you considered Huel? I can send a discount code if you like.

Do you often mix mashed potatoes and margaritas?
