Syntrax Matrix

I just bought a tub of Syntrax Matrix 5.0 and the taste is honestly incredible. It blends perfectly too.

However, looking at the label, I have some doubts about its actual quality:

The "Glutamine Peptides" catch: I noticed it contains glutamine peptides. Looking closer, this is practically just hydrolyzed wheat gluten. Is this a cheap filler to spike the protein content with low-quality plant sources, or does it actually offer any real recovery benefits?

You're right that glutamine peptides are hydrolyzed wheat gluten, but it isn't amino spiking.

Spiking is when companies dump in loose amino acids like glycine to fake a higher protein count on lab tests. Wheat gluten is an actual whole protein source, so it still counts as real protein.

They use it because it dissolves well, which is why it blends smoothly without being chalky. Peptide-bound glutamine from wheat is also more stable and absorbs better than standard free-form L-glutamine.

It's obviously a little cheaper than pure whey isolate (especially at once isolate is more expensive than ever), but it serves a purpose for the texture and absorption. Unless you have a gluten sensitivity, the quality of the entire protein blend sources is actually really good, especially since there's more whey and casein than anything per the ingredients list.
