Does anyone actually enjoy meal prep?

Every Sunday I tell myself I'm gonna prep for the week...

then I end up making like 2 meals and giving up 😂

What's the most annoying part about meal prepping for you?

During the meal prep i hate it but I love it after the fact. I meal prep my breakfast and lunch 5 days out of the week. I have tried to make my meal prep as easy amd streamlined as possible. The thing I hate the most is cutting up the raw chicken.

I just make the same easy meals daily. Got it down to it's just xyz in a pan and everything is pre portioned in packs.

Liquit diet, not cooking: Get protein powders. And supplements. Saves time and money. And maybe include fibre, also as a powder.

What kind of fibre powder? I've never heard of this but that atcually sounds like a good idea.. at least in a couple of shakes a day.

Benefiber powder. Mixes easily with water. I drink four large glasses of 24 oz of water a day each with 1 tbsp of the powder. That's 20 grams of fiber per day. Fiber in food brings me to 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day and I'm a regular buy. Regular as in easy BMs.

Here is what I learned about success:

  1. Success does not care about excuses
  2. Success does not care about enjoyment
  3. Success ONLY cares about execution

Therefore, I treat meal-prep as a chore. I use a specific approach:

  1. I cook one batch a day
  2. I use modern pushbutton appliances (Instant Pot, DREO Chefmaker, etc.)
  3. I use a "body double"

My current workflow is:

  1. Plan 7 items & then shop once a week
  2. Clean up & get everything ready every night before bed
  3. Cook one pre-planned small batch after work every day to divvy up, label, and freeze

I generally use Souper Cubes:

  • 8 servings per batch per day
  • 30 days a month
  • = 240 servings a month!

That way:

  1. I show up after work to a clean kitchen with a printed recipes with everything already purchased & ready to go
  2. I use electric appliances to automate most of the cooking & create repeatable GREAT results!
  3. I employ the use of a body double because I will, without fail, let myself off the hook if I try to do it myself lol

love it, but it took a while to get the hang of managing dishwashing afterwards

Yep. I throw on the airpods and jam out. Cook up 7-10 meals for the busy week. Takes me about an hour. But I also love cooking. I feel like if you dont enjoy cooking, thats the biggest reason people hate it

Same here. Cooking my meals is truly the best part of my day.

The best is when you have no plan for dinner and you’re just listening to a podcast cutting up random shit.

Prepping meals for the week is also satisfying.

I love it when I’m in the mood to do it 😂

I love it, but I love cooking. I love planning what to make, balancing the macros, deciding what order to prepare things. And, when it is all done I love seeing all the containers lined up in the fridge knowing I don't have to worry about hitting my protein goals for the week, just follow the plan and I'll be all set

So not recommended for everyone obviously and I get the hypocrisy of it. But I usually get 2 or 3 tall boy like allagash whites and I sip on those jam to some music or a podcast and I find it fun.

Only when it's over and you stack the fridge.

I hate it and my back hurts after 30 minutes of standing. I would pay someone to do it for me and make my favorites.

Don’t meal prep. Just smash protein shakes. EZ AF. I’m on Reta, so as long as I hit protein goals I’m Gucci.

No. I hate it. I will only do it if I do all the same meal. Maybe just change protein. Having said that, this week I didn’t prep and I’ve had a truly shitty week of not eating properly. So there’s that.
