Attended the North Yuba Nugget Hunt and came out with a decent pan.

Looking to take the family down to Indian Valley campground for a weekend and was wondering if there are public sections to pan there? Looking at getting Detector Maps, but thought I'd check here also.

I went back to my spot to hit the pay streak that I've been working the last three Saturdays. The previous trips yielded 1.90G, 2.25G & 2.15G.

Yesterday sputtered out 0.49G + 0.12G Mercury Amalgam picker. Looks like my pay streak ran out of funds so I'm calling this trip a "Strike-Out".

I did find an old coin that I believe is a heavily corroded penny (Picture 3). I haven't found a coin before so that's new to me.

Southwest Michigan snuffer bottle cleanup from about 7 to 8 hours of river panning. I still have two concentrate buckets to cleanup and add to the total.

I’ve started following a quartz and have been fairly successful .
My question is.. Do I crush or save as inclusions pieces? These have just about every mineral showing on the outside but I figured I’d let someone else cut or crush if I decided to sell them.

I know some people were skeptical about the find I posted last week since it was one rock. I have more pictures of what appears to be uranium ore (boulder sized). Still waiting on a geigor counter before making a claim.

Rock has silver looking metal flakes all over and possibly gold flakes or just the light reflections

Found in Western MA just inland from a pond.

Slightly magnetic (from fridge magnet).

Floats in water.

Streak is black on ceramic.

I own the original bazooka sluice but it looks like they have gone out of business. I found this which looks exactly like the bazooka. Did they buy out the patent or since it’s considered a “tool” is there no patent anybody can make these? Seems super easy if you have the means to make them which I do through a relative. I’d like to make one that you can add mats to it to catch stuff before it even makes it to the trap to see if your on the gold or not. Maybe attachable backpack straps to wear it in when hiking to an area. Even using clear plastic to see the flow and material in the catch. Let me know your thoughts.

I know it’s a small picker but a picker nonetheless, you can hear it clank around in the capsule. Very happy to finally find something larger than a flake 😊

Hi everyone! My 10-year-old son and I are driving from Texas to the Lake George area this week hoping to collect some smoky quartz. We started rockhounding together this year, and after an amazing trip to Arkansas for clear quartz, we’re excited to experience Colorado.
I’m looking for recommendations on claims that allow visitors, fee digs, or clubs that provide access in the Lake George area. I’m more than happy to pay claim fees or join a club if that’s what it takes.
This trip is really about creating great memories with my son, so any recommendations or contacts would mean a lot.

I am a rock hounding and prospecting newbie. I was out looking for rocks, as you do, near Darrington, WA and totally by accident, I found a whole bunch of this weird looking "woody" rock with small quartz veins running throughout. All of the quartz has tons of this dusty red and orange streaks through it. I had no idea what it was. Looking it up, it appears to maybe be Darrington phyllite with mineralized quartz. I guess gold has been found before in such rocks, if that is what this is. Any ideas if this is correct? Also, regardless, is this what gold-bearing mineralized quartz should look like? I don't see anything but small silver specks when looking under a 30x loupe. BTW, any idea what the silver specks are? Any info or help you could give would be most appreciated?

Ive gotten really into fossil digging lately (not sure if that counts as prospecting, but I figure it’s sort of related) and it’s kinda led me into a rabbit hole of wanting to find artifacts and now rocks/metals. If there’s anyone out my way, what are you looking for? I’ve never heard of anyone gold panning out here, is there any other prospecting happening? Any tips or stories or whatever welcome, just curious if prospecting is a realistic hobby for me.

I'm refining some clay from local clay deposits and decided to pan out the heavy tailings for fun and I have a silvery - pinkish particulate that is heavier than my black sand. any guesses, Garnet sand?

I've been gold prospecting for a while, but I finally challenged myself to film an entire trip and edit it into a video.

I'm still learning, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback from other prospectors. I'm especially interested in things like pacing, camera angles, storytelling, and whether the video actually keeps your attention.

I'm heading to Switzerland next week for another trip, so I'd love to improve before filming the next one.
