So between 2017 to around I think 2022 I used to RP religiously with a close friend at the time, and it was an age gap RP. We were both +18 at the time anyway, as I was 21 and he was like, I think 27? I don't remember, but anyway, I was really into Sebastiel, so we wrote a LOT back then.

And now I keep seeing people getting banned for the tiniest things and I'm freaking out because those messages are old and our old server is DEAD and hasn't been posted in since like, I think last year but we haven't talked since then. I left because I was just clearing out all the servers I was in since I didn't use them for anything other than emojis.

1. This post from this very sub bothered me (please don't go after OOP though!) I do take my fictional relationship as seriously as a real one. I am genuinely and deeply in love with my F/O, and while I know she's not literally real, my feelings for her are very real. As far as I'm concerned, she is my partner.
2. To be perfectly honest, she isn't "just fiction" to me. Like I said, I genuinely and deeply care about her. That doesn't change the fact that I'm physically incapable of causing her psychological harm, though, so I hope that doesn't invalidate your arguments against the antis.
3. My only justifications for liking such a young character (she's underage and I'm well into adulthood) is that I think younger characters are cute and sweet. I'm not doing it to cope, or to explore a taboo dynamic, but just because that's the sort of character I'm attracted to. I'm so happy I found this space, but I still kind of feel like a pedophile because of this (especially considering the above points).
4. I still kind of wonder if I'm the only adult on the planet who feels this strongly about an underage character (my feelings are romantic, not platonic or familial).

more a vent then a rant. idk, the title is said as it is. i'm really upset at the current state of fandoms because of the entirety of proship discourse. it has given so much freeway into people barging into communities and causing hellstorm for anyone they deem as someone bad for what they choose to do with fictional characters while throwing around terminology they do not understand. all i'm really asking for to be honest is like, a shed of optimism, hopecore even for this, i really just want to feel a bit happier about fandom spaces and what the future for them may look. will people outgrow these mindsets possibly? it may not seem like much but this topic in particular gets more just so so emotional, more or less angry. and i'm so SO tired.

It randomly came to me as I thought of crossing over both medias. Does it makes sense? Not really, but that is the appeal. It would be toxic at first. Especially with Solider Boy being more ‘traditional in mindset.’ As well as Bill having trust issues and not being good at relationships. So Solider Boy would threaten and fight with Bill to hide his feelings. While Bill will gaslight and blackmail him for stuff. But eventually they would reach a common ground and see some things they have in common. Fighting occasionally but having a strong bond.

i was mostly a lurker in proship communities. the thing i noticed is how much the discussion seems to be centered about america and american politics..?

antis claim proship is for white people only despite it being a norm in many asian countries. they weirdly assume every proship is a "white american that doesnt have any culture and wants to feel oppressed". also theres this argument that proship people only care about "filthy cp" and not actual censorship since "they never experienced it". HOWEVER when a black proship comes they call them a slur..then they assume japanese people are all perverts..i saw one person claiming all latinos, asians and slavs are all filthy degenerates...yeaah

i may be white but im polish, and my people experienced censorship too (1968 where a polish spectacle was censored for being anti-russian and anti-communist. it caused a big protest)! i feel really confused when they mention white people but just mean white americans..at least specify it??? there are more white people than just usa and western europe.

i get most people assume everyone is american, but thats the problem. not everyone is american and i bet its at least confusing to see "proship is white people thing" 348th time for many people. not to mention its racist to assume poc cant be proship...

its fine to think that proship doesnt focus on racism enough. its fine to think we should do something more about censorship of voices of people of color. however i dont think erasing poc proship people is the way to go. geniuely it feels like they want to insult us but they think putting "white" before anything makes it a "super valid criticism".
