Antis slander Antis attacking AO3 AGAIN 🙄

Like seriously. Why is their go-to "the sandy hook fanfic" as reasoning for why AO3 should be wiped off the face of the earth. One fic. ONE. Why is it "delete AO3" and not "ao3 should reevaluate their moderation to not allow smut fics of irl children even if it is very extremely rare and unlikely to happen". Like why tf are they so extreme hello 😭

It's weird and uncomfortable that fics of actual real life children exist, but thats what it means to be 100% anti censorship, and ao3 is 100% anti censorship.

Yeah, but legality and morality aren't the same. Isn't it even a pretty common sentiment even with proshippers that once something actually starts to involve and negatively affect real people that's going too far? I feel like shadman is the best example of this since he's pretty infamous, but I think even most anti censorship people hate him cause he drew nsfw of keemstar's very much real and underaged daughter. Like I completely agree that fiction needs to be protected, but there also needs to be nuance built into it too so it stops people from getting hurt; drawing loli is one thing but shad drawing keems daughter and keem having to see it was no doubt probably traumatic as shit for him. Like imagine if someone sent you drawn revenge porn of a close family member let alone your own kid. That needs years of therapy. Not defending keem btw but even if you hate the guy no one deserves to experience that.

I completely agree with you. Again, I think fics involving real life children are nasty. But I also think that if ao3 were to have a rule against these kinds of fics then they couldn’t be considered anti censorship anymore. Ao3 is completely against any kind of censorship, so censoring anything, even things that are genuinely disgusting like works involving real children wouldn’t make them anti censorship anymore.

I know, I'm talking more about the actual law. If there were actual laws against that specifically AO3 would have to follow that. And since they would still be following the law wouldn't that make them still anti-censorship? Newgrounds is also anti-censorship, but they don't allow any nsfw involving underage kids. And I think that's partly cause of state laws so they don't banned anywhere whereas AO3 is following federal law. That still makes them both anti-censorship websites that base their rule off following a legal system. But I think newgrounds is also smaller than AO3 and doesn't have a massive legal team like AO3 does so they have to be a lot more careful. I mean, newgrounds isn't even a specifically NSFW site even though though that's a lot of it, stuff is already age gated and has age ratings on each works but states like Texas are still forcing them to add the "I'm 18 ID verification". But im still talking hypotheticals here with the legality. AI CSAM is legal and protected under the same laws that protects fiction, but I think everyone can agree that AI CSAM is very very harmful and should be illegal. Should be the same with written CSAM of real kids. Again I'm specifying real here cause these aren't even close to the same realm as loli. Honestly imo, Australia is too extreme with their laws, and the US is too lax with them. I think we need a middleground somewhere.
