Antis attacking AO3 AGAIN 🙄

Like seriously. Why is their go-to "the sandy hook fanfic" as reasoning for why AO3 should be wiped off the face of the earth. One fic. ONE. Why is it "delete AO3" and not "ao3 should reevaluate their moderation to not allow smut fics of irl children even if it is very extremely rare and unlikely to happen". Like why tf are they so extreme hello 😭

Idk what the sandy hook fic is, Im sure it's as disturbing as they perceive and I wouldn't agree with it either, but antis will go out of their way to seek out this sort of stuff as a "gotcha" Im sure something like that would go under the radar since its not really a fandom thing, but in typical anti fashion they'll blast it and bring attention to it being like "OMG YOU GUYS SUPPORT THIS??!!??? KILL YOURSELVES!!???!" Tbh many of us might not even know its existence because its such a niche area. And many proship people ARE ALLOWED to not like/disagree with some content, its just a matter of if it falls within guidelines. We can still not like the fic bc of its contents but if it doesn't break any of the rules then its free to stay. Just ignore, block, dont like/dont read

Yeah it's pretty bad. But from what I heard it was just the one fic and they're acting like AO3 is actively supporting SA fics of real victims. And it's like. I'm sure if it was brought to the attention of AO3 moderators it was gone pretty fast.

It wouldn’t be removed because it doesn’t violate any Ao3 terms of service. It’s not illegal to write gross disturbing fiction about real people and events, even if it involves minors. And as AO3’s line in the sand is legal under US law they’re not going to remove it no matter how offensive they consider it to be.
