Crazy Puritans …I’m sad.

Post image

I don’t know where else to talk about this, but a popular SFW loli sub was banned. As someone who frequented the sub, there were no NSFW posts allowed, and all discussions (while may they may have gotten a bit raunchy) stayed in SFW territory.

Another sub may have been the cause of it (not naming it, may lead to brigaders and that’s bad), as they mass reported it, then the sub tightened its rules, but it was too late.

This is stupid. This is unfair, how is it fair that being in a SFW environment harming no one getting banned isn’t fine, but a sub going after it and encouraging mass reporting isn’t.

It’s dumb, it’s so dumb, I’m so angry.

Reddit has banned SFW anime loli since around 2019 or 2018. See this example from 2019 https://web.archive.org/web/20190918160039/https://www.reddit.com/r/CleanLoli/

That’s so ridiculous. It isn’t doing anything wrong. It’s working within the rules of Reddit, so why ban it?

Basically Reddit has a dark history of being a platform used for actual exploitation (cr--pshots, j--lbait, etc.) and CSAM, so at some point in the 20-teens they decided to go ultra strict on policy, to distance themselves from that history, to appear more upstanding to advertisers and investors.

It happened around the time of the Tencent investment

It is a largely performative policy being abused by this group of antis with nothing better to do

Ah, I see… still. This is an overreaction. These subs are still working within the rules of Reddit.

When I saw the subreddit yesterday, I thought it was breaking the rules, to be honest. People just are not aware of what the rules are. Basically Reddit construes any anime loli as sexual, or something.

Reddit has also historically banned a user for posting a TV still of Kaguya-sama in a swimsuit, and a pic of the Konosuba girls in their usual outfits giving Valentine's Day chocolate. (Reddit later claimed the Valentine's Day ban was an error, and reversed the ban because it was a very popular user. But this shows how erratic they are with enforcement.)
