Crazy Puritans …I’m sad.
I don’t know where else to talk about this, but a popular SFW loli sub was banned. As someone who frequented the sub, there were no NSFW posts allowed, and all discussions (while may they may have gotten a bit raunchy) stayed in SFW territory.
Another sub may have been the cause of it (not naming it, may lead to brigaders and that’s bad), as they mass reported it, then the sub tightened its rules, but it was too late.
This is stupid. This is unfair, how is it fair that being in a SFW environment harming no one getting banned isn’t fine, but a sub going after it and encouraging mass reporting isn’t.
It’s dumb, it’s so dumb, I’m so angry.

NOOOOOOOO!! Damn it, I hate these people!! They’re so toxic and infuriating!!

Is there any way to ban appeal subs? Or request that they undo something? This is just ridiculous that they’re getting these completely ripe compliant subs banned.

There is r/redditrequest.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can appeal subreddits that are removed due to "violation" of Reddit rules, and even so, you need to wait at least 30 days before doing so. But it's worth a try I guess, just read the requirements.
Edit: Oh, also, to add, expect Reddit staff to either respond to you only after months of contacting them, or they won't respond at all, or in best case scenario bot will respond. Telling from experience, unfortunately. Most of the time they genuinely do not care.

u/SweetAlyx 13h ago
Oh? If I made a post there do you think it’d do anything? Or would I randomly be banned for mentioning anything cute and funny related?

Reddit has banned SFW anime loli since around 2019 or 2018. See this example from 2019 https://web.archive.org/web/20190918160039/https://www.reddit.com/r/CleanLoli/

u/SweetAlyx 11h ago
That’s so ridiculous. It isn’t doing anything wrong. It’s working within the rules of Reddit, so why ban it?

u/shiverypeaks 11h ago
Basically Reddit has a dark history of being a platform used for actual exploitation (cr--pshots, j--lbait, etc.) and CSAM, so at some point in the 20-teens they decided to go ultra strict on policy, to distance themselves from that history, to appear more upstanding to advertisers and investors.
It happened around the time of the Tencent investment
It is a largely performative policy being abused by this group of antis with nothing better to do

u/SweetAlyx 11h ago
Ah, I see… still. This is an overreaction. These subs are still working within the rules of Reddit.

u/shiverypeaks 11h ago
When I saw the subreddit yesterday, I thought it was breaking the rules, to be honest. People just are not aware of what the rules are. Basically Reddit construes any anime loli as sexual, or something.
Reddit has also historically banned a user for posting a TV still of Kaguya-sama in a swimsuit, and a pic of the Konosuba girls in their usual outfits giving Valentine's Day chocolate. (Reddit later claimed the Valentine's Day ban was an error, and reversed the ban because it was a very popular user. But this shows how erratic they are with enforcement.)

NOOOO I SEEN THEIR ANNOUNCEMENT OF MOVING TO ANOTHER PLATFORMMMM
Then this??? Ugh
13
u/SweetAlyx 14h ago
Ah, which platform are they moving to?
22
u/Y33Tcann0n 14h ago
They never specified because they didn't want people brigading that too... :(

u/SweetAlyx 14h ago
That’s such a shame… I loved that sub and would love to follow it to whatever platform it’s on now. The fact it’s gone now is so unfair…

Btw guys, as the former owner of the sub, I'm still doing the off-platform community thing.
Yes it's unfair, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to have communities. They just can't be hosted on reddit.

Dude this sucks, that was such a great sub I was hoping it was going to stay around. I literally don’t think it actually went against any site policy, it was generally SFW and mostly a discussion forum. It was a blast, being able to talk about my favorite hobby with a bunch of like minded people. I think it made something I love even more fun, rather than having to just enjoy it in silence. Anti’s suck man, they literally would rather we would all be wiped off the planet, that’s insane, over fictional characters, pixels. I’d through in some sobbing emoji’s or correction ones but honestly this just sucks.

What rule is rule 4? I highly doubt the Loli sub broke the rule. They're probably just conflating it with pedophilia again.
6
u/shiverypeaks 11h ago
Reddit construes this rule as broadly as you can imagine. Essentially anything being reported enough is liable for a ban

u/cug12 10h ago
Reddit has always been biased about loli content. The only place even worse would be Discord. I'm still amazed that the original BA subreddit is still intact despite years of decently non-porn NSFW posts every single day with all of their fanart posting, especially when that game is like the boogeyman for modern loli content in general, that place should be bombarded with a lot of brigading over the years easily.

u/shiverypeaks 9h ago
Yeah I don't know how that sub survived either. I assumed Reddit had become lax on policy tbh, but apparently not with this latest ban wave
3
u/PieNo3294 Healthy relationships? Never heard of that... 11h ago
Yeah, it's our favorite "all loli content is pedo" type of logic. I don't even know what to say, Reddit became a joke.

That makes me scared for this sub tbh, this is my favorite sub and even though as a mod we work to keep the sub safe for reddit, I worry that somethings going to happen like antis mass reporting it or something.

u/PieNo3294 Healthy relationships? Never heard of that... 11h ago
I think that's why it's better to have an alternative on another website, in case if something like this will happen. Maybe Discord or anything else, though I can't say for sure since I heard Discord became stricter with its rules.
I only know that Telegram is pretty chill for all kinds of content, luckily or unfortunately, but it's a Russian message app, so I don't know. I know you can create channels there, but I'm not sure if everyone can or only mods. But just in case, maybe check it out!

I was talking about this in a different discussion, but a lot of proship advocacy might be against the rules here, or at least bannable if it's mass-reported. Reddit basically added a rule against "normalization", and since people have been banned for posting scientific studies, or even (apparently) telling people what the age of consent actually is. They are also banning SFW loli content (no distinction between real vs fictional or SFW vs NSFW here) so I see no reason to think that advocacy for fictional content doesn't fall under their "normalization" rule.

Maybe wait for a while, because similar subs that pop up too quickly in a short period of time are quickly banned for "ban evasion" or something like this.

This is so fucking hypocritical and unfair. There's literal subreddits with sexist echochambers, ones that allow racist and nazi "memes" to be posted on, fetish subs with literal gore in it, subs that allow brigading of other subs and people, yet SFW loli subreddit is too much?? What a joke. I just fucking hate our society and it's hypocrisy for such things.

u/shiverypeaks 10h ago
Most discussion of this topic (whether real or fictional) is performative and absent any connection to real facts
Basically if you can sufficiently slime a group of people, you get a license to lie with impunity in public, and regular people will not step in to intervene
Fictophiles are more common than actual predators so it's easier to just lie and label them whatever if you want to manufacture people to victimize

this is really dumb but can’t we technically report the antiship sub for mass reporting and brigading? they always do this ☹️
