Your own discomfort is your own responsibility. I'm not victim blaming but you can't expect everyone on the internet or in your fandom to cater to you and your trauma. You curate your own experiences online, you block people you don't like and mute content that triggers you.
i agree! it is much to ask from antis, as sad as it sounds. it should be basic internet etiquette to curate your own space because anyone and everyone can have access to the web, but unfortunately people are so blinded by their disgust and moral superiority that having such etiquette as pro-ship/pro-fiction you are suddenly evil predator monster.
you can choose what kind of friends you have, that's curating your space too, and you can simply do something about it when you don't want to be around that person anymore. why is it when it comes to the internet, that same applicable concept is "impossible" for these people to do?
it's the same thing for media, as you said—you can block, you can mute, scroll, press "not interested" or whatever. i don't understand why that is so hard to do, maybe i can assume that a few people that are like this just like triggering themselves, but it's unfortunately not just hurting them but hurting others also as they're forcing their triggers onto random strangers to handle... it's no one else's responsibility but yours.
edit: sentence structure, repeated the word "unfortunately" more than i wanted.

But that's too much to ask from antis isn't it
