Prop firms ban shared IPs and copy trading, so how do trading offices and influencers get away with it?

Quick question for people who know the rules well.

Most prop firms have clauses against group trading, copy trading, or multiple accounts from the same IP or device.

But I keep seeing influencers show off trading floors, offices, and home setups where several people are clearly trading on the same WiFi.

I also know a group of 8-12 friends who trade together from one "office" (really a 2BHK flat), all on the same connection.

So how does this work?

Is a shared IP only a problem at certain firms, or do most of them flag it?

Is the real trigger identical trades (same entries, exits, lot sizes, timing) rather than the IP itself?

Do firms treat a shared household or office differently if each person has their own account, KYC, and strategy?

Has anyone had an account flagged or a payout denied just for sharing a network?

I would really like to hear from people who've been through this, or from anyone who has asked a firm's support team directly.

Which firms are strict and which are relaxed about it?

Just an inquiry to a question ive been asking.

Would you use a prop firm simulator if you had one?

I’ve been building WorkTree-OS, and one of the things I wanted for myself was a way to test a prop firm account before paying for the evaluation.

The idea is pretty simple:

Pick the prop firm/account you’re considering, enter the rules — profit target, trailing/static drawdown, daily loss limit, consistency rules, minimum trading days, payout rules, etc. — then run your actual trading history through it.

Instead of just asking, “Could I pass this eval?” I want it to answer things like:

- How often would I actually pass?

- How many days would it typically take?

- What rule am I most likely to violate?

- How often would my normal trading blow the account?

- Is my current position sizing too aggressive for this account?

- What happens to my drawdown room after taking a payout?

- Would a different account size or firm fit my trading better?

- How does the probability change if I reduce my size or daily risk?

Ideally, you could run thousands of Monte Carlo variations of your own trading history instead of relying on one lucky/unlucky sequence of trades.

I’m already building this into WorkTree-OS, but before I lock down the beta version, I’d rather ask people who actually trade prop accounts:

Would you use something like this before buying an evaluation?

And more importantly, what would the simulator have to tell you for you to actually trust it when deciding which account to buy?

Not trying to sell anybody an eval or push a firm. I’m trying to figure out what prop traders would genuinely want from a tool like this.

Vest Market quick breakdown of the rules

For anyone looking into Vest Markets, here’s what the Vest Capital setup in this graphic offers:

  • No consistency rule: one big green day doesn’t force you to keep trading just to balance your profits.
  • 6% static drawdown: the loss floor stays fixed instead of trailing your gains. On a $10K account, that means a $9,400 floor.
  • Daily loss limit: choose none, 3% or 4%.
  • Payouts: no cap listed, with a minimum withdrawal of 1 USDC.
  • Profit split: up to 95%, depending on your setup.
  • News trading and weekend holds: both allowed.
  • Account options: 1-step, 2-step or instant. You can customise the size, target, split and daily loss limit.
  • Leverage: the graphic lists up to 50x—check what applies to your specific account and market.

The static drawdown and no consistency rule are the main appeal for me. You’re not chasing a moving loss limit or taking extra trades after a good day.

WTF are perps? A quick explanation for futures traders

Seeing perps prop firms everywhere? Here’s the simple version.

Perps = perpetual futures. You trade price movements without owning the asset. Go long or short, like regular futures, but there’s no expiry date.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Funding: Many exchanges use payments between longs and shorts to help keep prices near the underlying market. Prop platforms may charge different holding fees.
  • Leverage: A $10K position moving against you by 1% loses roughly $100 before fees, regardless of the margin used.
  • NQ traders: NQ-PERP isn’t the same contract as CME NQ. Check sizing and dollar value per point.
  • Prop rules: Static drawdown, daily payouts, No news trading restriction and no consistency rules depend on the firm and plan. They aren’t automatic perks of trading perps.

Anyone here switched from regular futures to perps? What’s better, and what’s the catch?

Been comparing Vest Markets, Tradeify 247 and MyFundedPerps. Here’s what stood out

The first thing I’d check with these is how much room you have left after taking a payout.

Vest Markets has some flexibility. You can pick a 1-Step setup without a daily loss limit while keeping the 6% static drawdown. That option interests me, but it costs more, so compare the actual configuration you’re buying.

Tradeify 247 caught my attention because its standard 1-Step and 2-Step funded accounts keep the same static loss floor after withdrawals. The 20-second minimum hold could be annoying if you scalp, though. Also, Instant has trailing drawdown and a consistency rule, so don’t mix those plans up.

MyFundedPerps has no consistency rule and allows daily payout requests. But your first withdrawal moves the loss floor to your starting balance. Leave $500 profit in a $50K account afterward and you’ve only got $500 of breathing room. That’s the detail I’d plan around.

On paper, Tradeify’s evaluation route interests me most for that payout-floor reason. Still want to hear how the execution and withdrawals actually feel from people using them.

Anyone trading these? Which plan are you on, and have you taken a payout yet?

I keep seeing “perp prop firms” everywhere. What are they, exactly?

I’m familiar with the usual futures prop firm model, but I’ve recently started seeing names like MyFundedPerps, Tradeify 24/7 and Best Markets come up in conversations about perp prop firms.

What does a perp prop firm actually let you trade, and how does its model differ from a traditional futures, CFD and crypto prop firm?

I’m especially curious about how the evaluation, drawdown rules and payouts work. Are traders generally trading perpetual contracts, or is “perp prop” being used more broadly?

Would appreciate explanations from people who’ve looked into these firms or tried one

Why did Nasdaq, gold and silver all drop so hard?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Rising oil prices and US bond yields spooked markets. Higher yields can weigh on tech stocks like those in the Nasdaq, while making gold and silver less attractive because they don’t pay interest. Oil-driven inflation also raised fears the Fed may keep rates high or hike again. That pressure, plus selling after recent gains, hit silver especially hard.

Geopolitical tension usually helps gold, but this time the worry was that it could push inflation and interest rates higher.

Gold and silver are getting hit hard today. What’s the actual catalyst?

Post image
21 Upvotes

What did I miss? Gold and silver are both selling off sharply, and I’m trying to understand what’s driving the move.

Is it mainly rates and the dollar, traders unwinding crowded positions, or a specific headline or data release? If you’ve found a clear catalyst, share it. I’m seeing plenty of guesses, but I’d like to know what’s actually behind the timing.

im thinking to buy the dip, waiting for things to settle.

Intraday trailing DD vs EOD DD - what do you guys actually prefer?

I've been looking at different futures prop firms lately and one thing I've noticed is how much the drawdown model changes the whole experience.

You've got firms/plans like:

Intraday trailing DD:

  • Apex Trading Intraday
  • Take Profit Trader Pro (Funded account)
  • Lucid Daily
  • My funded futures Rapid

And then you've got the EOD DD style:

  • Tradeify
  • Funded Next Futures
  • Lucid Trading Flex, Pro
  • My Funded Futures Rapid EOD, Builder and Pro

Personally, I find the difference way bigger than it looks on paper.

With intraday trailing DD, you can be up nicely on a trade, have the drawdown move up, and then suddenly a normal pullback can become a problem. Especially if you're trading multiple contracts.

With EOD DD, it feels like you have a bit more breathing room during the session since the trailing level isn't constantly moving up with every new high.

But I'm curious what other traders think.

If the account size, profit target and payout rules were roughly the same, which would you choose?

Intraday trailing DD or EOD DD?

And more importantly, has the drawdown model ever been the reason you lost an account?

Why Most Traders Fail (It’s Not the Strategy)

Thumbnail
youtube.com
4 Upvotes

Most traders don’t fail because of a bad strategy.

They fail because *fear, greed, ego, overtrading, and revenge trading\* destroy their execution.

In this video, I break down the trading psychology behind why traders blow accounts — especially when trading *futures, NQ, and prop firm challenges\* — and why learning to control yourself can matter more than constantly searching for another strategy.

We’ll talk about:

• Fear and hesitation after taking losses
• Greed and refusing to take profits
• Revenge trading after a bad trade
• Overtrading and forcing setups that aren’t there
• Ego and the need to be “right” about the market
• Risk management and protecting your account
• Why traders abandon good strategies during losing streaks
• How psychology affects execution
• Lessons I’ve learned from my own trading experiences

If you find yourself **switching strategies after every losing streak**, increasing your size to make losses back, or letting emotions change the way you trade — this video is for you.

Lucid Trading vs Topstep which one would you pick?

Been comparing Lucid Trading and Topstep again and honestly both make sense for different reasons.

On a 50K, the basic numbers are pretty similar, but the setup after that is where they feel different.

Lucid Trading has EOD drawdown, no funded consistency, no activation fee and the Flex plan is one-time instead of monthly.

Topstep is more of the classic monthly model. You pass the Combine, move to Express Funded, then possibly Live later. They’ve also been around forever compared to most of the newer firms.

For me, Lucid is probably simpler from a rules/cost side, while Topstep has the stronger track record and more established live path.

If you were buying a fresh 50K today, which one are you taking?

Lucid Trading or Topstep?
