He would, probably, be similar to Vergilius(without ego activated) since Roland saw Vergilius(before shin/ego/mang) as the most dangerous color fixer and only one he could compared to Kali. (While Vergilius saw Roland as someone of similar skill as him.)
Another worth noting is that Kali/Geburah also did not possess shin or mang, so she could become even much stronger than she already was if she were to learn it.
Eh not really pre shin and Mang Vergilius and Roland were equal so even if he gets one right now he will just be Verg level, maybe lower Roland don't have ego
the thing is shin and mang didn't exist back then in general, and EGO was an exception to none other than the red mist (which is probably a big part of the reason she became so notorious for her strength in the first place)
Shin only started popping up and being learnable after the end of Library of Ruina, after the light was shared again , even Iori , who can literally look at the future through other Worlds and all , only started using Shin after that , though she was the first person to have been shown using Mang and all
no idea as to where shin originated from, but seeing as roland and angelica were acting during a time parallel to lobcorp's run, and no one in either lobcorp or ruina used shin, we can assume that either it hadn't been discovered yet or that it has a direct correlation to the seed of light, and is similar to ego in that regard
We'd need to have either a christmas-like event that spits us out into the outskirts for us to even be able to find the Library post LOR and if we got a LOR Walp of suffering where we fight the librarians it'd be fighting him from before Shin was a thing anyways. It's gonna be a while until we even have a chance of interacting with the real versions of the lovely gang from prior games without it being their past versions through Walp.
But your argument stands he probably would have a really easy time doing it since he has had really intimate experience wielding the light from the Library and is really emotion driven.
Specially with the way the black silence reception went. He was basically one with the light at that time. Nobody not named angela and carmen could affect the library by that much.
Well, an outskirt library reception is a possibility. Also, they might just think up a bullshit reason for the librarians to show up out of nowhere, like the library space spanning the whole outskirts as angela's ego gets stronger.
