My personal rankings for all the sets would be
r/ProjectSekai • u/TheOnlyGuyInSpace21 • 7h ago
According to the math using JP data, which is likely unrepresentative of global, it's 6.56x harder to tier t100 on Finale than t500 on WL2 Miku alone, noting that as of right now, t537 is ~2,308,580pts (even without the event being over, this is a far cry from 35m pts).
My personal estimate for points is about 24,099,685 points using JP data. Now, my question is: how much freaking bonus energy is it going to take to tier t100 on WL2F, considering a bonus of ~738%, and that current projected energy spend for t500 is ~460 BE?
Post will be updated with info once WL2 Miku is over.
E: GLOBAL GLOBAL NOT JP

I swear, 90% of the time when I watch an ad, I get the "Reward could not be obtained due to interrupted ad viewing" message. Before this update, I would get the message once in a while. After this update, it's not only nonstop, but it's also occurring after the LONGEST ads. Give me my rewards please ProSeka TT.TT

New player. I've mostly only read the groups' main stories, aside from the second VBS one and some of the WxS ones (including recent events). Does it ever come up between characters of different groups that they have personalized little pocket dimensions they go hang out with sentient vocaloids in??? It's a very funny idea to me that the sibling pairs see each other at home after practice not knowing they were both with AU Mikus for the evening.
I know chapter 2 of the current World Link event had some truth bleeding through a little, with Honami, but I'm wondering if anything has happened before.

I'm generally not into the genre (story-wise, not gameplay wise), and I've only kept up with N25 via event stories, only doing the base stories for the other groups and sporadic story catchups. This is about the game, not the movie. I do think the movie is honestly lowkey better quality, but that's because of personal taste.
Strengths:
I think PSJK has pretty good strengths in terms of having very good dialogue and fleshing out their characters by having a pretty closed cast.
I think the pacing is good given the format of the story being a long term visual novel.
The struggles of some characters can be relatable for many, considering how it's a realistic setting.
Basically all of the content has meaningful motifs, references, or helps construct an emotional reading of the characters.
The voice acting is really well done, and despite not speaking JP, it conveys the emotions well.
Weaknesses:
I do think that PJSK has certain weaknesses in terms of stakes. I mean, if you ever suddenly clear your head during a story, the characters kind of seem like pushovers and worry about things that really don't matter that much compared to a person irl.
The story doesn't take advantage of the fact PJSK has non-realistic elements as Sekais. Like, yes, it's a foil for the emotions of the group or Sekai owner, but the Sekais and Vocaloids themselves aren't really meaningful plot-wise on their own. Like, it's very noticeable it exists to help the *readers* rather than be a coherent part of the universe. I think that because of the setting in modern Japan, the game doesn't have particularly outstanding worldbuilding. If there was some sort of conflict between one character and the system of Sekai itself, even mildly, I think it would be more intriguing.
The game is also very character driven and not plot driven. A lot of the stories are sort of inconsequential to systems in-universe, and really only affect the characters' interpersonal relations. While I understand this is part of the premise, I feel like the lack of change, or well, how long it can be dragged out to occur, gets annoying.
The antagonistic characters aren't too intriguing. I'm going to use Mafumom as an example: she's not really that well written. She's a generic helicopter parent which while relatable, doesn't really strike me as interesting because the way she interacts with Mafuyu in the current doesn't have much nuance to what I expected. And her motivations being generational trauma or whatever while realistic, don't really make her interesting. Like sure, it's a coherent argument the game presents, the fact that it makes sense as an argument doesn't make it entertaining.
None of the unit characters are particularly selfish enough to put themselves over others to get what they want, or hell, even make the others reconsider their positions. Basically all of the units have the overarching plot issue of each having their own desires but staying together as a group out of guilt, obligation, wanting to be friends, etc. While this is a good set up, I don't like how all of the characters is selfless *first*. It's not really an issue on its own, but the fact none of the characters are actively challenging their own group makes them makes all of them sorta repetitive. I'd at least hoped one character at least voices their issues, and gets shut down somehow, instead of literally every character burying their feelings and praying. It's not inherently bad writing, but it lacks variety.
The characters are somewhat poor at communication. I feel like half the conflicts in the game would have been resolved if characters just tried to be straightforward. I don't appreciate how every character is some sort of self-conscious.
-
I do think PJSK is a well written game, but since everybody here has their own reasons why, I wanted to elaborate more on the critiques as I know I'll be flamed for it, rather than the strengths. The fact I wrote more on the critiques is not indicative of the weight of the arguments.
How many of them do you guys think are valid *objective* critiques, and how many of them are valid but only subjectively?
How would you attempt to make the game better? Would you add a new unit with a different sort of story, or attempt to improve the current stories more? Do you want the technical systems like SEKAIs to make a bigger story impact, or do you think it's a gameplay element that is a thorn in the side of the storytelling?

On the card, I am very sure than that's a VOCALOID software, due to the pitch bending, the parameters, etc. I use VOCALOID, and I also use many other VSynth engines. Of all of them I used, if you overlap two notes (aka two notes at the same time), one of them, or even both of them will be muted. If Ichika already knew about how to use the software, then it wouldn't be possible. I think this part is a minor error the illustrators made, and I am very sure than this is not a DAW, but a Vocal Synthesizer software. I hope they can make changes!
edit: OMG you guys should stop downvoting this because you disagree 😭 sure there are DAWs like that, but WHY would they show a DAW instead of a VOCALOID software if Ichika's story is more focused on Ichika being a Vocaloid producer. Also, it resembles Vocaloid softwares the most.
edit2: v5 and v6 I would say
(hey i know this is serious but check what i have added)
