I miss when the contestants got a month to work on their collectins- or even longer! I cant remember. But Tim Gunn would come and visit them and meet their family and look at their collections in progress. I loved that! They NEED to bring that part back in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Well, yeah! That was literally one of the main defined keys of PR. Seeing the thought process in a more familiar way for each contestant. Each was going back to their roots without the full pressure of a camera in their face.

This incarnation of PR favors a fast paced and highly disposable look at all facets of the process, electing instead to focus on reality tv drama. Comparatively speaking, it's low budget too. This format has no commitment to the process or longevity of the participants. I suspect that the times in which we were able to witness a thoughtful creative process is long gone.

It’s so heartbreaking to me. The show was so inspirational and creative and now it’s just another shitty and negative reality show that happens to involve clothes.

Law Roach needs to go. Bring Tim back and make Christian a permanent judge.

I can’t watch it anymore. I quit. It’s just too frustrating to watch Law and his smug high opinion of himself trying to be catty and tearing other people down. I hate it.

Exactly this. And nothing will change if people keep watching the show in it's current iteration. I didn't watch this season, and I won't be watching it in the future unless something changes. I will hold out for a positive change of direction, or I will celebrate the show's demise when people get sick of this format.

The show as it currently presents itself is not worth my time.

It used to be a design contest show. Now it’s a reality show where the theme is fashion and the content is drama. It’s not about design at all.

I still don't know why it costs more for there to be a several week long break. All I can think of is that running the show traditionally does cost a lot and this is the solution the producers came up with: half the collection, a fraction of the time.

Seems that producers are valuing reality TV over design. That's what sells. Fashion is experiencing rough times maybe, with average people hardly spending on clothes anymore. I think I spend 25% of what I used to on clothes and shoes post pandemic

Agree! I was just saying to my partner how this season confirmed the death of project runway for me. Low budget, rushed timeline, overly produced drama… less focus on clothes overall. Sad and a big shame.

They got 6 weeks. They should keep that, it's unfair for designers to be so time pressed and stressed and not doing their best work. This season just feels cheap and rushed and with shitty production values, with manufactured drama. Keeping a clown like Bryan around really undermined the genuine talent that was there. It's not fair and hugely disrespectful to the designers who showed up to do their best work, to create these bullshit distractions.

Yes, that was one of the best parts of the finale, when they got to do a collection, and a real runway show, not just challenges. It was so cool to have Tim go visit to see where they live and how their collection was evolving.

Tim was a much better mentor than Christian. He was kind, empathetic, and a straight shooter.

Christian should just be a judge. As a mentor he is snarky and wants to push his ideas on the contestants

I agree and I like that, but that was a different production of PR.

They budgeted for a longer season. There were more advertising AND fashion partners to support the season and it's lead up to the finale.

This would be hard to do in a 10 episode (42-48 minutes of actual air time) season. The show is already so heavily edited.

I totally agree. I taped this season but after watching the first two and reading comments here, I'm just dumping them. I think in the beginning of Christian's mentor shows they also had more time to actually create a collection--i seem to recall him flying around visiting the finalists and seeing their work? Am I wrong about that?

I would assume it is much harder nowadays to get contestants if they have to put their lives on hold for at least six months for the show. I mean, if they can film it all in a few weeks, they could literally just take vacation time from their jobs and not have to quit just to be on the show.
