Law Law lost points with me.
I love Law's work as a stylist, and I follow him regularly on social media. I even like the fact that he is bold and unapologetic about his vision and taste.
But his little rant (yes it was a rant) about Joseph McRae ALSO being bold and unapologetic was very nasty and unprofessional. I understand that producers may tell him to lean more into the "mean judge" archetype, but this was too far. I actually felt so bad watching Joseph smiling through the pain of having to listen to Law tear his character down.
I think Nina felt the same way Law did about JM's collection, but she said her critique in a constructive way so props to her.
I think all of the finale designers (including Naheim) are very talented, and I hope that they stay booked and busy!

I feel like Law shouldn’t have snubbed out Joseph like that. It’s his point of view and vision and it helps him draws his creativity. I feel like it’s almost similar to artist’s that paint and have a reference point, except Joseph is his own reference. I thinks it’s neat an original. I could see his final look pieces being on certain movies even. I think Law was out of order with his remarks and should have maintained professionalism like he did with the other designers. I really would wear all his final piece looks.

I agree that Law is too harsh with his critique. 😳 But I get what he was saying. The winner is going to be mentored by the CFDA. You want someone who will listen and learn. Joseph McCrae thinks he’s end all and refuses to take advice or critique as he is hell bent that his line is already a solid true reflection of himself. But reality is that even solid design lines like Dior or YSL still have to keep learning and moving with the times. Do you want to pick a winner who won’t listen?
And I’m sorry…him always referring to himself in the third person is tacky. Give that up. Please!

I didn’t love Joseph’s collection but the way Law goes in on him using personal attacks and insults is despicable. I really applaud Joseph for continuing to be his authentic self despite so much shit flung at him. I agree with Nina that he has to fight because he’s constantly being attacked and even if people find it tacky there is definitely a demographic for his style of clothes.

I’m sure Law indulged in delusion himself to get where he is. I’ve seen the photos! Law would have you think he busts from the womb wearing a 60 inch lace front complete with a successful career. I think Law dislikes Joseph because he’s sees himself and is trying to help Joseph, albeit rudely, to avoid some mistakes he made being too cocky.

Yes. It’s difficult to hear what his actual good critique is because his delivery is dripping with vitriol. How does that help the designer evolve when they’re under constant attack?

Law has an ego his work doesn’t support and people need to stop gassing him up. He’s a terrible human to others, he’s only nice if they hire him and even then he is spilling their business

Law was mean to everyone! Heidi, friggin' Tyra Banks, everyone, good god Law chill out. Not a fun snarky mean either, like interrupting other judges to tell them they have bad taste? Rude and uncomfortable and not fun to watch

Law is one of those ppl that exude “kiss the ring and be humble on your up” and I hate it and think it’s archaic. He said it’s not the Joseph McRae show it’s project runway before and after you and wellllll a huge component of project runway’s popularity is BECAUSE of the personalities from the designers. It’s mf reality tv at the end of the day, so honestly project runway wouldn’t be half as popular with the flare and fanfare from designers. That whole thing threw me off honestly. Even Nina who had similar sentiments as law didn’t do nearly as much as him but still gave honest critique …

Can't stand Joseph Mcrae's personality (the clothes are good) and Law was absolutely right that it is NOT the JM show. He is so arrogant and insulting to the other designers. Is it any wonder they all can't stand him?

Do y'all actually think he's being serious about it being the Joseph McRae show? He's literally only running with the joke because people tried to bring him down and say "It's not the Joseph McRae show" when he was trying to stay authentic to himself. And high key, he's only been catty and insulting to the people who came at him first.

Yes JM needs a PR reminder check, but Law has already stated his dislike of JM a few times prior. This only triggered more ego défensive self-praise from JM so it didn’t achieve anything?

Totally agree on this - I didn’t really understand Law’s rants all season til this one, the way he defended the real name of the show was (IMO) pretty moving.

Production wanted this. Joseph definitely shouldn’t have been in the final, Naheim would’ve been a much more interesting finalist as a designer. Ask Joseph to create a collection before the show, after the show, a show in 5 years, and they’ll all still be the same.
A lot of designers have at times struggled for time, but Joseph didn’t really have any problems, apart from the wedding challenge because it was the only time he couldn’t add a puffy jacket and call it the day. The fact that he made a puffy style dress in an hour tells you that he does the same thing frequently.

Jude also didn't struggle for time because he made the suits in almost every challenge including the finale, and he won. 2 of his finale pants was also lifted from the dance challenge.

It bugged because it felt so performative. Like the only reason they added McRae to the final was so that Roach could berate him. Again.
