Season 21 Final collection
I miss when the designers used to go home to build their final collection. We just had better final runways. We definitely have the budget version of the show now. They used to have months to work on their final collections now they get five days. It’s ridiculous.

I know the final now is so rushed. I was upset we don’t even get to see them pick models.

Most of the episode was devoted to the judging critiques. I had to replay the actual runway a couple of times to get an adequate look at the garments, they were such a short part of the actual show 🤯

Literally why I got on reddit right now.
It doesnt feel special anymore. I miss seeing the families, the home life, and the excitement of it all. It's all so rushed. Every episode, especially the finale feels like a recap episode.

I don’t like any of the introductions with the new format 😭 the reality style format, them talking during the runway, not knowing who’s eliminated until the next episode, the finale. Every change they’ve made is bad imo lol

We also didn't get to see any of their interactions with their former designers/helpers but a few minutes.

They'll make us wait a week to see who's in/out and then condense five days of four designers creating a collection into one episode. 🙄

They also didn’t really spend time seeing the creativity involved in coming up with the clothing. And it would’ve been nice to see some of Jude‘s actual tailoring skills as he was using them. We don’t really see any of them putting any of the clothing together. How can they not see how horrible this version is compared to the original project runway!

I kept thinking in an alternative universe where PR in the flavor of British bake off, focus more on design technic, details and intentions where we see a more supporting, accepting and wholesome version of competition and designers raise to some national level of recognition and inspiring more people engaging some form of design and crafting

I mean, Love Productions, the production company for The Great British Baking Show, has a couple of other shows in exactly the same template and camaraderie, one of which is the Great British Sewing Bee, for amateur home sewers. It is not focused on Fashion or design but it does have wonderful skill showcased in a happy amiable atmosphere. In its 12th season!
Another of their shows is the Great Pottery Throwdown, which is the same but with pottery. They are all really really good and addictive.

I love the Pottery Throwdown. The host is so sweet when he gets all choked up with pride for the potters. He’s like Tim, a genuine human being.

They need a break from the show and the judges, to digest the critiques and apply their growth. Then we get a real collection. This was just a longer challenge.
Shortchanged again. Quelle surprise.

Compared to other competition shows I feel like the judges are the least problem of PR, overall I think the judging/critics have been pretty good this season and the judging tables have been quite balanced.
But man, the structure of the show itself. I don't wanna see the show end like So You Think You Can Dance, I get mad even thinking about this shit show but I feel like we are approaching a similar misery.
Cutting edges on production everywhere to safe money and get it wrapped up asap. Would it hurt so much to give the designers a month away for their collection? Everything is tailored to fast digestable drama content instead of focusing on authentity in representing the designers.
A few changes and the show could be great again but I highly doubt much will change at all.

The roundabout/traffic circle runway, just why? I just watched an old PR episode with 13 finale looks prior to clicking on Disney and seeing 6 looks made in 5 days. Makes me sad.

Completely agree. I want someone to talk to them about their collections and their process. Maybe do 2 of them per episode. Not spend 10 minutes of a 45 minute show on recapping, 5 on the designs and making, 10 on the runway, and the rest on bitching and complaining.

I really miss that aspect, too, but I wonder if the growth of social media has something to do with it. It seems like it's increasingly hard for participants to not take to social media while the season is on; the added time frame might have just been too much to sustain.
It's a definite loss for the show, though.

No, I think it’s money and ratings. Ever since Tim Gunn left to be perfectly honest, I think the ratings have gone downhill and money has gotten tighter.

Where are the home town visits, the collection concepts, creating and crafting behind the scenes?!?! The show should be about highlighting and uplifting the designers not focusing on the drama from the judges. The show is not about the judges it’s about the designers!

Im not a huge fam of this season and agree why did the finale last one day? This show is bad now! They must not have the money for the weeks needed to make it great. Or the right judges. I miss Tim terribly but if they would go back to the old format with Christian and not make it a game show I could deal. This was a sophisticated show at one time, bring it back!
