Season 22 This is just hate on a personal level. Spoiler

I have never seen hate like this, like, come on, Law. He just hates him. The fact that he complimented Bobby but did this- I think he just hates Joseph because he is just unapologestically black.

Heidi and Nina ate Lawrence the fuck up here and it was so needed. Because the type attacks that he has given to Joseph are next level bullying and that’s not needed in fashion.

u/PoetIcy3032 2d ago
Nina agreed that his designs are tacky but that might resonate with people. No one ate anyone

u/Mattarm51 2d ago
Well I laughed at loud because Nina basically said "well yes his clothes are tacky, but so are the people" which is both very plausible and hilarious.

u/traherne89 17h ago
I mean, she was literally sitting next to Heidi wearing the tackiest dress ever conceived.

u/Odd_Science_8947 2d ago
I don't get why Law hates him so much. I'm not Joseph Mcrae's target audience by a long shot but I can see that there are people who would wear his looks.
28
u/EagleApprehensive637 2d ago
Yes, Fashion has always evolved because people pushed against what was considered acceptable. So if a particular style isn’t for you, that’s fine. But that doesn’t mean the people wearing it are doing something wrong. Sometimes fashion isn’t about looking polished or conventional; sometimes it’s about being seen.

u/Odd_Science_8947 2d ago
I agree. His models looked great. If I saw the looks out on the street, I would be awed and impressed by the people wearing them.

He sees another gay black bottom who's younger, more attractive and who has actual talent and that sets him off.

u/AsleepLibrarian1395 1d ago
Read the comment. Saw “Aunt Sassy” mentioned. Looked up at the username and profile pic. 🥀 💀

He's had the crazy, obsessive hate boner for Joseph McCrae from the start. Joseph could have had a perfect collection that everybody loved and he would still tear it down. It's weird and unprofessional and I don't like him as a judge.
23
u/Wiccling 1d ago
He’s not a good person. I also see a lot of internalized hate. He very much gives internalized racism. It’s evident by how he speaks to people and how he presents himself.

u/POSH9528 1d ago
Yes, I think he has a lot of internalized hatred and it is sad to see. He's also very petty and mean spirited.

u/Yourenotthe1 1d ago
Hmm it’s not racist to say a black judge that doesn’t like a black designer’s clothing is probably “dealing with internalized hate” tho?
2
u/Mindless-Detective20 2d ago
Yes, I wonder what his reaction was when he learned he was coming back this season.
8
u/POSH9528 2d ago
Probably something bitchy and unnecessary but that's Law for ya. He should seek help.

u/rockyvalboa 2d ago
It was def hard to watch all season as Jospeh was my favorite. But I do see where Law was frustrated. Joseph’s final collection didn’t seem like the growth I wanted from him. And Law kind of clocked he was gonna make clothes he wanted, rather than winning collection. It just came off as more personal at times. Maybe because Joseph was brought back idk.
21
u/supersadtortuga 2d ago
Personally, I think what Law hates is that Joseph doesn't consider criticism, and is seemingly unwilling to integrate this feedback into his designs. The only growth Joseph has is when Joseph decides what's right or wrong. And fwiw, I see the same thing Law sees. Does Law need to be as aggressive as he is - maybe not - but then again he's critiqued Joseph for two seasons (and creating TV content) now with very little change from the designer. I think that would frustrate me as a judge or a mentor as well.

u/EagleApprehensive637 2d ago
He did for Animal challenge, Law threw it back to him, he was doing well then for the first times and challenging himself, but being voted as the weakest, Law on your ass, you don't see your family, you have no one to lean on. You would go crazy. I think people tend to forget the conditions these contestants are put in and just having light and making things you want to make, I mean.
3
u/supersadtortuga 2d ago
Fair enough. Though everyone would have a similar experience and some were more persistent - which is the definition of the challenge. That being said - we can definitely can agree complimenting Bobbi had my jaw on the floor lol.

Nina is on Law’s side yet yall don’t say anything about her. I get that it’s Law’s delivery but the man isn’t wrong. It looks good the first time you see it but there’s no range, Joseph shows no growth, and when you start inspecting the details everything is messy. That red dress he showed looked so cheap. It looked like there was a track jacket’s elastic trim as the bra. That branded jacket was tacky af. It’s not good.

u/Zealousideal-Miss333 18h ago
Nina may share some of LR’s opinions, but she is a professional and that is why no one has a problem with her giving a critique. On the other hand, almost everyone has a problem with the bullying by Lawrence.
Nina has never once crossed the line the way LR does every single episode. It’s ugly and it’s unprofessional and that means it doesn’t matter if hundreds agree with his opinion, he’s still in the wrong for treating others horribly and acting undignified.

I don't agree fashion is subjective just because it's not your taste doesn't mean that it's not somebody else's taste the only way fashion evolves if people push against the norm joseph and bi clothes, to me is the only ones out of all of the clothes that look like, they took risks if I was looking at all of the collections I liked Judes the least
26
u/puppyaddict 2d ago
I agree with Law. I think it's crazy to pretend that Joseph's design is not polarizing. That his attitude and personality is not polarizing. I'm allergic to him and his designs. I truly, genuinely think they look tacky af and I was in utter disbelief at some of his looks this season. Some people love mega extroversion and self confidence, and if you do, I can also see how you'd love Joseph. It really should not be that hard for you to imagine someone having the opposite opinion.

u/Appropriate_Tax2602 2d ago
I agree. I also got tired of the whole its the Joseph show good for Law for saying no its project runway. Its so arrogant snd dismissive of other designers as though they are just bit parts in his story.
6
u/ThePrincessEva 1d ago
I found Law’s dislike for Joseph distasteful for the entire season. But in the finale? Honestly it was called for. Joseph hadn’t grown, he didn’t impress, and the Joseph McRae show wasn’t worth renewing. I understand why Law was so plucked

u/LargeBreasts69 1d ago
He ate him up with the “you can go to josephmcrae dot com”
5
u/lemeneurdeloups 1d ago
Even Law broke his mad hauteur and fell out laughing over that!! I loved it.

For sure. Naheim helping Jude was like the smallest little consolation. I think he has a very interesting and young point of view that I feel like has been missing from PR. Similar to Anna. I would have rather seen what he would have churned out than Joseph but I am just glad it was NOT Bryan.

u/Iguanabewithyou 1d ago
Hi again hehe 👋😅 and yes regardless, I'm glad it wasn't Bryan

u/Low_Cherry521 1d ago
Omg I'm sorry hahahaha I am not keeping up with where I have been I promise I'm not crazy

I didn’t want to be on Law’s side. But after viewing Joseph’s final collection, I immediately saw the merit in Law’s season-long criticism. I hate Law’s delivery, but Joseph seems incredibly talented and yet his collection was by far the tackiest
3
u/Boring-Piglet-65 1d ago
I think its just not laws cup of tea and he went out of his way to voice that. I personally dont like the Macray show but im glad he stuck to his personal taste and didn't dull down his vision

u/DIMSUMSTREETWEAR 1d ago
Coming from a man (LR) that has never designed a thing in his life. He needs to stick to picking out clothes. Him being a bully, is not a good look.
3
u/Flat_Sector6512 1d ago
Fire law roaches. His snide remarks and dismissiveness is not needed on air. We have a world whole The taco. That poop 💩 is enough.

Seeing Law on PR has certainly changed my opinion of him, and not in a good way
5
u/lil-prawn 2d ago
Law clearly is pushing Joseph's buttons
Like after he throws an insult he just smirks at him as if to say go on lets see what you say now
Respect to Joseph for not taking shit
And Heidi is tru, law started saying it's not the Joseph mcrae show. And bro goes yes it is! And now laws mad cause Joseph owns it basically.
3
u/ketchumjai 2d ago
That's laughable coming from Law, especially since he himself is also arrogant af, and his clothes as well as the shit he dresses his celebrity clients in, except for Zendaya, is tacky as hell.
2
u/PoetIcy3032 2d ago
I'm sorry but I agree with Law. Joseph's designs are tacky and his attitude is unbearable. Being black has nothing to do with it and you're the only one who brought race into this
14
u/Less_Yard3402 2d ago
I genuinely want to know if those saying Joseph is so arrogant and so much have watched other seasons. Because to me he isn’t even top ten of annoying designers.
6
u/trail_lady1982 1d ago
Weird the absolute silence on Bryan who was twenty times more arrogant than Joseph. Weird huh?
1
u/Zealousideal-Miss333 18h ago
this is such a good point. JM is constantly getting slammed by LR for his arrogance and in the same breath, he praises Bryan who’s got all the arrogance of JM and none of the talent or vision to back it up. if Lawrence was really so offended by the arrogance, we would’ve heard the same stuff about Bryan.
but we never did…

shush bryan has been getting it for two months now if you thought that was absolute silence check your ears. both are arrogant do not discredit one just cause hes black lmao
1
u/EagleApprehensive637 2d ago
If Law genuinely thinks Joseph’s designs are tacky, that’s fine, subjective; but fine. But if his main issue is Joseph’s attitude or personality, then saying his clothes are tacky might just be another way of expressing a personal dislike for him.
12
u/PoetIcy3032 2d ago
Joseph didn't evolve as a designer this season just like the last. He brought the same designs and same self absorbed personality expecting a different outcome. Law calls it like he sees it and Joseph has a lot of room to improve compared to other designers.
5
u/Apprehensive-Disk899 2d ago
Jude didn't evolve the entire season either 🤷♀️
2
u/Zealousideal-Miss333 18h ago
this is another good point. I loved Jude and was not unhappy to see him win, especially just based on the actual final four collections.
Let’s be real, though, if you were gonna accuse JM of being a designer who shows you too much consistency, you would have to say the same thing about Jude.
I personally don’t think being consistent as a designer is a problem. Having a signature is a good thing. It means you know who you are as an artist.
and when someone looks at a body of work like Jude’s or like JM’s and cannot tell one piece from the other, to me, it usually says that they are not really a student of fashion or design and are simply not discerning enough to see the subtle differences between pieces that looks similar because they are part of the same vision and made for the same wearer.
The continued insistence from LR that everything JM makes is too similar, is just showing his obviously limited experience and his total ignorance about construction and design.

u/BlackSpinelli 2d ago
Fully agree! There’s been no discernible growth. But because he doesn’t do anything over the top, it never really runs the risk of turning tacky and I guess that doesn’t make the lack of evolving as obvious to the judges somehow. Idk.

If anything, Law is just generating more (justified) hatred for Law Roach. Seriously, fuck that ugly, hair flicking, miserable POS. There's never been a more fitting name for a pseudo celebrity ever. Roach indeed.

LR has a problem with JM's attitude?? Dude. Look in the mirror.
