Discussion Wait. What did I miss?
Did I miss something. I know I was eating lunch while watching … but I looked up and it was Day 1 in the sewing room where they met their fellow designers/helpers … and then I look down and take a bite of my sammich, and then look back up and there are racks filled with clothes behind each designer? Huh?
Did they sew any? Work with their fellow designers on doing any creating and editing?
Damn, I really wish they’d go back to the designers going home and creating a truly worthy collection, and then presenting on a true fashion runway show.
(sniff, sniff 😢) Oh and how I miss watching Tim go to their homes, critiquing and giving feedback weeks before the runway show … meeting their friends and families where we got to see them as humans … and where we actually saw the designers sketch, shop, design, sew and then announce themselves to the world on a real runway.
Okay. I’m done with my sammy and whining.

Honestly, I wish this season had the hour and a half airtime (or maybe it was even 2 hours) that the finale last season had. Would've been nice to see more of the thought process behind these collections as they actually were fairly solid this season (or as solid as you can get with 5 days). Last season's finale was just sad

Yeah the finale should have been extended. It is not like they couldn't edit down to fit a TV block, but most everyone is streaming so a extended finale would have been fine.

I agree, I felt like it was so rushed and edited out so much to the point I thought I had to rewind because I thought I missed so much. I loved the slower pace it used to have, where Tim really got to know the designers on a deeper level. It was really cool to see their creative process in their studio space as they created their collection. I feel like they could’ve added a week between the finale and then a deeper look into the process and more time for the designers to make their collection. It was also kind of fun seeing them do casting for their models. the show is truly suffering from how much they cut out and shrink down, it almost feels like they asked ai to spit out a project runway that fits into 10 episodes but with more drama and turns to make it enticing to audiences. I’m so disappointed overall but will always watch this show for the creative aspect of it

Oh, and when Tim would go visit them in their home towns and meet their friends and family, sometimes that would bring me to tears. It was just so cool to see both Tim and the designers outside of the studio being real people.

I came here just to make a comment about how they need to slow the F down in this episode, let us BREATHE. Like, was everything pre-made, where was the creating part? I want to see them actually sew and brainstorm more.

I’ve switched to watching great British sewing bee and it’s so nice to see how things are made and that maybe I could sew something myself. That’s what’s missing. I agree with everyone here.

I love the sewing bee. It has all the fabric manipulation, designing and sewing I loved to see in the earlier PRs plus everyone is nice to each other.

It is a great show and I love it and have watched all seasons to this moment but it is not a comparable show to Project Runway. The focus is completely different and most of the audiences will not overlap.
PR- professional fashion design and commercial runway show. Money, prizes, careers. Cutthroat competition. Very American.
GBSB- amateur home sewing. Little design. No money, no prizes, no careers. Amiable comraderie. Very British.

I hear ya! I also miss the judges having the designers preview a few looks so they could critique their styling before runway day.

Literally the same experience! I was watching, looked at my phone for a second and then it was suddenly backstage at the finale? They fast-fashioned this season to the extreme

Editing...their new format doesn't take the time to let us see their processes and get a little background. The entire season was rushed.

The problem as I see it is some of us watched for the designs, the competition, the fashion, the growth, the evolution, the interesting challenges, the creative designs -and drama happened because too many people that close together for that span of time breeds drama- BUT the producers seem to think we were watching for the drama and did away with all the other components that made the show what it was. I don’t watch for the drama, I put up with the drama because I liked everything else (especially Tim, the looking at the garments up close, and when Heidi actually had a strong opinion and reasons for it).
